Candidates ahoy!

So, I presume there are going to be eggs happening soon at DCW, and perhaps I might like to be considering a new Candidate. (I did at one point want to think about putting Brennault forward for this purpose, but he's ineligible for the dragon I'd want to pair him with!) Are there any folks who have NPCs they'd like to become PCs and who they wouldn't mind me writing? I really love how that worked out with K'don, so I think I'd like to go that route again.

I think this is a really great idea (I also love adopting NPCs from PC personas!)

Then I was sad to realize my personas have very little family, and those that do aren't Candidate age.

I do have three, however, that have siblings that would be within the age-range of a Candidate.

Reven he's the Holder at Green Valley Minor Holder, and he has a younger brother, Tener, who is 19.

Tarley just graduated from Weyrlinghood herself at DFW, but she has four siblings who are of Candidacy age.

And then there's Zathris he has a few siblings that could be Searched and Impressed, and a couple of them would be scandalous since they're married (but that would be up to you how you'd like to work around that!) but Ethlisa, Risana, Caetha, and Ethdan all fall within the acceptable age range for Candidates.

At DCW I have Ciara who has a 16 turn daughter Cirina. Ciara is weyrmated to the Weyrlingmaster K'sedel.

At EFH-HH I have Porenne who is married to the Hallmaster. Their oldest boy is Epsorio, hes 13.

R'enh has a 15 turn son but he's at DFW.

At DCW, V'rel has 2 half-sisters, Tirraze and Zenirra. They could interact with V'rel himself, and also we could explore how they relate to A'kades who they have no biological relation to but are extended social kin with.

Also, I have several characters in the DFW who have children, if you'll be interested in playing there at any point.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I've got a possible plot in the works for Tener, the brother of Heather's Holder Reven. (Honestly, I'll probably keep him even if this doesn't work out!)

He's 19 and has a wife and son (or daughter) and is training to be a smith at Green Valley. I'd like for him to be Searched and for him to push to be allowed to go once his wife (Ayressa) agrees to move to the weyr for an opportunity for herself, e.g. in order to be in a place where she can be more than just a young mother, learn a craft, etc.

Would any of you be interested in writing Ayressa? Would Tener actually be allowed to accept a Search given that he's married and has a kid? I love the idea of having to deal with that dynamic, since it doesn't seem terribly common.

Also, are there any Searchers who might find their way out to where he is to Search him? I'd love to get that ball rolling, whether it ends in success or failure!

He can be married, but I believe the marriage would be dissolved should he Impress.  Doesn't mean they couldn't be weyrmated, but the relationship between dragon and rider takes precedence over man and woman.  They cannot hold to the same kind of marriage vows living in a Weyr.

That could turn out to be useful if they don't want to be married, saves them the "embarrassment" of putting their good family names through a "divorce."

Although I think maybe Ameala and Fitchan stayed married when Ameala impressed.... (*nudges Suzee and Ames* ya know, incase ya'll wanted to bring that back :P)

I'm open to other writers' thoughts on how Ayressa might feel about this, but they were only married because of the kid, so it's not out of the question that they might want a convenient excuse to dissolve the marriage in a way they can argue isn't divorce. Her primary reason for agreeing to go is probably more along the lines of having the opportunity to learn a craft or some other profession for herself, but I think she would definitely be aware of that possibility that they could use a technicality to stop being married. I don't think they're in an adversarial relationship, but as I said, they wouldn't have otherwise gotten married.

Eimi is correct. The "marriage" is dissolved by the dragon bond. However, his wife could become his Weyrmate should she desire to move to the Weyr with him.  We've actually had this play out in the club before.  At first he'll have to stay with the other Weyrlings and there is no close contact until he's released.

Once he moves into his own Weyr, she can move back in with him. Of course, she could also decide to stay at the Hold.

Whether they wanted to get married or not, he won't make that kind of decision unilaterally, and he won't effectively abandon her and their son. And they could decide to live together after Weyrlinghood (as friends or more) just so they can raise their son semi-together?

My plan is for Tener to honor his wedding vows inasmuch as he is able despite the official dissolution, so any separation between them will be Ayressa's doing.
