Can you go all the way back and find the first post you ever wrote and sent in to the Triad list? If so, post it here :) Maybe it's been too long and you don't have it, but do you have one of your personas' first posts to the list? I think I still have Saibra's first post in my inbox. Find them and post them here, wouldn't it be neat to see what our personas were like months/years ago? Or see how our writing styles have changed?

Suzee

Well, I couldn't find the email because it only goes back to the month AFTER this. I remember switching accounts back then so it's probably in that old email in box but here you go.

Ames recruited me to Triad:  My first post was with D'ale in August 2010

Hey, that was almost sixteen years ago, no way I can find it. (and I'm pretty sure it was Aileyan post) I do remember I had to alter her name for the persona approver to accept. (I wanted Aileen).

This was oldest post by me I found timelined at our webpages: http://www.triadweyrs.org/story.php?st_id=41

2nd November 2006.  And this wasn't really my first post as it was taking forever to get a character approved (can't recall why) and I wrote npcs in two posts with other people before-hand but I don't care to think of either of them as my first post in Triad. :)

Since I'm a bit of a hoarder I do still have my first ever post in Pern pbem, from 7th June 1999.  (The only ones I don't have are, curiously, the ones from Dragonsfall - the club - and Star Lake Weyr.  You know the story ... a terrible falling out - take THAT posts!  I never want to see you again!  Except I kept the character sheets and still have some of the recycled characters in play.)

Fun topic.

I don't think I have my very first post from sometime in 2000???, but I do have posts going back to 2005.  I think that very first post was with Demalia talking to Aileyan after a weyrling class...

Here's one from April '05
QuoteWho:J'an, A'ronic, Farine
Where:RBW
When:m5 d22
What:J'an discusses plans for the weyrling's first flights with his staff

~*~

J'an gathered his staff in his office.  First manned flights were always an
anxious time, almost as bad as first trips /between/. "Is everyone here?" he
asked.

Farine nodded as she took a seat. She was really enjoying her time helping
the weyrlings and thought that she might want to be a weyrlingmaster third
when she was old enough.

A'ronic knew that J'an was worried about the upcoming flights. He was as
well, but for an entirely different reason. He knew that they'd be so sure
they were invincible until the first time they got scored and he wanted to
make sure they got through weyrlinghood allright. "I think we're all here."
A'ronic replied.

"As you know, we start the current class on their first flights tomorrow. I
just want to be sure that everyone knows what the plan is, I'm sure that
there are bound to be one or two that will try and over extend themselves
and their dragons, like M'das perhaps." M'das was a young lad, just short of
his fifteenth turn. Impressing blue Ramilanth had calmed him down slightly,
but he was always one to push the bounds. "I'd like to try and get through
without any injuries to dragon or rider."

"What do you want me to do?" Farine asked as she had never been involved
with first flights other than her own flight on Eugrath. She was looking
forward to it and wanted to make sure she did what she was supposed to in
order to make things go smoothly.

"I'll need you to check their straps. They'll have been through the drill
many times, but it doesn't hurt to do it one more time.  If you have any
doubts about any of them not being up to scratch, well call someone else
over to check. An'dr will help you there."

"I know we can do that much, J'an." she said confidently. She had checked
her own straps on Eugrath a dozen or more times and knew what to look for.

A'ronic grinned despite himself as he listened to his niece's confident
tone. She was going to be a good wingrider when she finally turned sixteen.
She had two more turns before she was old enough to join the fighting wings.
He was glad to have her working where he could keep an eye on her. He knew
his job was limited due to his loss of sight in one eye, but he could still
talk them through it and Bendath was always available as another pair of
eyes for him. "Bendath is looking forward to helping watch over them
tomorrow. He can't fly much farther than they can." he said knowing his blue
wanted to help the best he was able.

"Sometimes that's all the young ones need," replied J'an. "To know that
there is someone there just in case. I know I appreciated it all those turns
back."

"What do we do if they do overextend themselves?" Farine asked curiously.
She wanted to be prepared in case any untoward happened.

"Be ready to get hold of a dragonhealer, I believe M'van will be on duty
tomorrow." The bluerider was well thought of as a dragonhealer.  "And if you
could notify the infirmary first thing tomorrow, so that they have someone
on standby as well." In most cases the precautions would not be needed, but
it was as well to be prepared.

"I can do that, J'an." she assured him.

"I can help if there's a need of immediate assistance. I don't need both
eyes to be a dragonhealer." A'ronic said reminding them all that he was a
junior journeyman dragonhealer. It was what he spent most of his freetime on
when he wasn't working with the weyrlings or spending time with his
children.

"Good, so it looks like we are all prepared then?" questioned J'an.

"I believe so." A'ronic replied satisfied with their meeting.

"I feel ready." Farine replied with a grin.

"Then tomorrow it is," said J'an in a tone that clearly stated the meeting
was over.

QuoteWho: Dysali and Doren
Where: DCW
When: m 13 d 10
What: Dysali meets a new Candidate, Doren, and helps him settle in
Mentioned: Mayla, Moriath
Notes: Mentor Approved

~*~
The morning started out lovely, and Dysali hopped out of her bed in the
Candidate barracks to start on her early morning chores. She seemed to
be
growing more and more callouses each day! But it was a labor of love,
as
far as she was concerned. Even moreso now, since she'd been to look at
the eggs. She just _knew_ the dragonette in that shell she'd spied was
going to choose her. She just _knew_ it, just like she'd known Alli
would
eventually have chosen to partner with her if she'd stayed a
Dolphineer.
Or in her case, a Dolphineer in training!

She dressed in the tunic and leggings the Weyr had provided for
her, though she did have one or two of her own Gather outfits. She still
earned a few marks making jewelry for people, Weyrfolk especially
seemed
to like the little things she made. She tried to make them dragon-hide
shiny and soft. But today was a workday, not a restday, so work clothes
it
was.

Her mornings were spent helping Mayla in the Kitchen, and this morning
was no different, except in one area. When she'd come into the Lower
Caverns this morning, she'd seen Mayla talking to a new young man. A
Candidate,he looked to be. He had the same look she'd had when she
first
came to live at the Weyr, and was likely getting the same warm welcome
Dysali had received herself from Mayla.

Grinning, she ran fingers through her unruly auburn curls, and
meandered
over to the young man, bright blue eyes twinkling in friendliness. "Hi
there. " She offered a little shyly as she came up to him. He seemed
around her age; was he alone, as she sometimes felt? "I'm Dysali. Are
you new to the Weyr?"

Doren smiled, also a bit shyly. "Yeah, I just got here. I'm Doren." He
was feeling slightly overwhelmed by the sudden change in his life, but
his
dominant emotion was excitement. He was here, really here! The Weyr was
huge and seemed full of activity, and there were dragons everywhere. He
was _surrounded_ by them. Doren kept thinking he would wake up in his
cot
at Harper Hall, and it will all have been a dream.

"Are you a dragonrider?" He asked, hoping for a chance to spend time
with
a dragon up-close.

Dysali's warm laugh bubbled out as he asked her that question. She was
only 5'3 and looked her age of 14 and a half turns. She smiled then at
him to ease the sting of her laughter, and shook her head for an
answer.
"Hi Doren! No, I am not a dragonrider. I'm a Candidate. You look like
you might be a Candidate too?" Feeling excessively friendly, she went
on
to offer her services. "I'm finished with helping Mayla in a
candlemark.
I can take some time to show you around, introduce you to a few of the
real dragonriders, and perhaps we'll help someone bathe their dragon?"
She paused to smile in understanding. "I remember my first few days
here,
and I felt really lost half the time. "

This time Doren's smile was wide, causing his hazel eyes to sparkle.
"Yes, I'm a Candidate, too. And I would love to meet some
dragonriders!"
He realized the girl -- Dysali, he reminded himself -- was the same
height
as him. He knew he was small for his 15 turns, but he was hoping for
the
growth spurt his older brothers had near his age. "How about we meet
back
here in a candlemark, when you're done?" He asked. "Oh, and thank you
for
the offer. It's very nice of you." Doren smiled again.

Dysali grinned brightly back, shook Doren's hand with a wink. "Grab
some
breakfast, and I'll meet you in a candlemark. "

The rest of her time went smoothly, and she was soon waiting for Doren
in
the same place she'd found him. A little yawn was covered by a hand as
she grinned at him. "Ready for the tour, Doren? I know we'll meet
plenty
of dragonriders down by the lake! How about going there first?" She
felt
a little strange, showing someone else around, but he seemed alot like
her, and he had nice eyes and a warm smile. And, if they both
Impressed,
they'd be Weyrlings together!

Doren nodded. Even in his dragon-fogged mind, he realized he was liking
Dysali. He hoped the other Candidates were as nice as she was. "Let's
go!" He said. He was so happy he was nearly giddy, and hoped he
wouldn't
make a fool of himself in front of the dragonriders. Normally he was
more
reserved, but at least for now he was open to anyone and anything.

Dysali was not normally so social, but she had discovered a new
interest
in her new life after yesterday's adventure into the Hatching Ground,
and
she was glad to help someone, after all the help she'd received! The
pair
of Candidates meandered down to the lake, with Dysali pointing out the
Candidate barracks on the way. "The barracks are split between girls
and
boys. " A grin. "No mingling!" Shortly after that, they arrived at they
lakeshore.

In the lake in front of them, at least two greens and one brown were
visible, and Dysali waved to the greenriders. They both looked
familiar.
Perhaps she'd helped bath their dragons before! "You know, Doren, part
of
our job as Candidates is to help the other riders bathe their dragons.
Perhaps tomorrow, the Weyrlingmaster can give you some suggestions on
which rider wants a Candidate to help him or her! I've helped a few!
Its
always fun, and you can find out all sorts of things." She considered
her
companion with a shy smile. "So, Doren.. " as they stood on the shore.
"Where are you from?"

Looking out at the bathing dragons, Doren said, "Well, I was Searched
from the Harper Hall, but my family has a small hold downriver from
Emerald Falls Hold."

Dysali smiled and nodded to his comment, trying to think where else she
might take him. It was fun watching the dragons, but there were other
places she could show him. She tugged on his arm, and pulled him down
on
the ground beside her as she relaxed for a moment, watching the greens
preeening for the brown nearby. "I came from Dolphinhall at Topaz Sea
Hold. I was going to be a dolphineer!" She chuckled. "And you were
going to be a harper? Being Searched was a huge surprise to me!
Adjusting
to life here after that was a little hard, but its been a wonderful
experience." She paused, eyeing him again. "What do you think about
actually _Impressing_?" Nosy, perhaps, for someone she just met, but
what Candidate didn't want to talk about that!

Doren grinned wistfully. "I've waited my whole life for Impression. My
father thought I would grow out of it like my brothers did and find
something useful to do with myself. He was okay with me training to be
a
Harper." He shrugged. "Harpering's fine, but it'll never be as good as
dragonriding. For me, at least. Flying, going /between/, fighting
Thead,
all of that. And when you have a dragon, you're never alone."

"I know it's a lot of responsibility, but it's what I want. What I've
always wanted. And now I'm here." He spread his arms to indicate the
Weyr.
He looked back at Dysali, noticing how bright her blue eyes were in
the morning light.

Dysali smiled at her new friend, turning her head to look at him. She
hadn't been too aware of boys yet, which was a good thing considering
her young age. But she seemed oddly aware of the one sitting next to
her.

Grinning at his continued comments, she nodded, her eyes looking a
little
dreamy. "I didn't know what to expect. I never expected to be Searched!
But now, I've been to see the eggs, and I can't wait for them to
Hatch."
Those bright blue eyes did take on a mischievious sparkle. "Do you want
to see the eggs, Doren?" She said in a softer voice, not sure if she
could take such a new Candidate into the Hatching Ground. But she knew
it
was allowed! All the other Candidates did it.

Doren's jaw dropped, "Oh, wow! Could I really?" He wondered if the day
could possibly get any better.

Dysali leaped back to her feet with ease earned from Turns spent
swimming
almost constantly. She held out her hand for him, and then raised the
other one to her lips, one finger making a 'quiet' motion. "We can, if
we're very quiet. " She led him toward the Hatching Ground then, going
to
the same spot she had watched her own egg from just yesterday. Well,
she
thought of it as _her's_ anyway! She pointed to the beautiful, oval
shaped
eggs dotted the warm sand in front of them, and being guarded
protectively
by Moriath. "There.."

Standing in awe, Doren started at the eggs. "They're beautiful." He
said
quietly. One of those eggs might contain the dragon that would become
his.
It was an amazing thing to consider.

Instead of watching the eggs, the young woman watched Doren's face. She
suspected that the awe that had overcome his eyes was very similar to
what
had overcome her own. It was so wonderful to share this experience with
someone, she thought. Her heart as warm as her smile, she nodded to his
remark. "The future is waiting for us, Doren." She said softly, and let
him have as long as he liked to stare future in the face.

Speaking of this great subject...

Emma has dug through her email and come up with a batch of over a hundred posts from August 2004!

I've timelined one of them so far; http://www.triadweyrs.org/list_stories.php?lc_id=1&postmonth=8&postyear=2004

But I plan on making a dent.  If any of you longer term members find you have posts like this in your own archives I'd love to get them timelined.

I wondered why Aileyan's not-so-good-ole dad showed up :)

Alas, my personal archive only reaches to 2008. Due having switched emails few times and there was time I couldn't access my triad-mail.
