Checking out a name

So, if I want to check out a name (so it's not too earth-like)of NPC that I plan to make a PC later, what's the procedure?  I would hate to use and NPC and the later submit a sheet and be asked to alter the name. In this particular case, the name does resemble common english name, althoug it's been combined from the parent's name, so it's origin is "pure pernese".

I check names in two ways. First is by running a search on the two useful FAQs, run last year, that list all the names:
Personas
Dragons

And, since they're not updated every month, I use the whole site search to see if anybody's used that name before.

I would just email the Council or Persona Approver and see if it's a "Pern Approved" name

Or you can also email the Persona approval team.  Or just Emma since that is her emphasis right now.

Once I have the time to spend on it, I'm going to try and programatically change those pages to pull a real time list.  But I have to research how to do that first.

Oh, I do that, routinely, to make sure I don't pick a name that's been previously used. But it doesn't tell me if the name will pass Persona Approver
