I was rereading my copy of the DLG last night and was admiring the descriptions of the Hold crests, with their colors and patterns. It made me wonder if it's established anywhere what the colors and crests are of the Triad locations. I would imagine that for most of our holds, the colors are at least partly what's in the name - so Emerald Falls would have emerald green. But what about the crest pattern, and the Weyr colors?

That would be an interesting project I would like to work on.

Indeed! I think there was some work on the project at one time I'll have to dig through some stuff to find it. Maybe the L1's have some secret data they'd like to share.

I do know that Amber hills is a deep orange amber and I'm not sure I know the others whether black or white. I think Amanda can shed some light there.

It would be a great research project.

Miriah

Maybe Suzee and I can get together and research, plot, and draw :)

I vaguedly remember seeing some stuff about it but I can't remember when or where.

I think it would be a really cool project to eventually have all the Hold and Weyr colors set out in pretty crests. Maybe if we're being ambitious, doing the NPC locations we used to have as well as the active ones. Please let me know if I can help out in any way! I can't doodle, but I'm awesome at research.

If it helps, the DLG says Weyrs are usually a single color and black, while Holds are 2 or 3 colors.

Alright, have been working with Avery on this project and approached the L1's of each area with our suggestion for their  Weyr, Hold, or Craft.  So far the following have been approved for use. I'll add the thumbnails here as they're complete.

Here is a link to the Canon badges so we're trying to keep in the same spirit for the purpose of this project. http://kitsufox.deviantart.com/art/Pern ... -272270662

If you have to change RBW, why not go with gold and black instead?

Suzee

Yeah, that makes it the same as Igen... lol That is if we stay with the normal Heraldry tinctures.  But we could possibly change to a different shade like the asure of dolphin cove is different than the normal blue used at like High Reaches.

Avery

I see purple hasn't been used yet for a Weyr, nor has green (though IIRC that has unlucky connotations). A different shade in the similar vein of orange-gold would be nifty, maybe something tan-like for sand?

reading up on my heraldry....
some other colors for RBW if we dont want it orange could be cendree/dark grey? After all the cliffs are sorta grey...sorta.... :) since it cant be blue since dcw and reaches are already blue.

If we didn't want to change it, we could just called the colors ochre and black? It's a bit more of a deep, earthy orange vs. the vibrant color that might be used by Ista?
