Snail Mail

Is snail mail a thing of the past?  What's the last thing you received in the post, and what was the last thing you sent?  How often do you get 'real' mail?  How often do you get parcels?  (Because, you know, parcels can't be sent electronically!)

Let's see. . .
Snail mail I usually get bills.
Occasionally a magazine -- particularly from NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) who also send me six books a year.

And postcards.
My postcard buddies have fallen off, but I receive a few each month, the latest from Hamilton, MT.

Parcels: things I order (occasional videos from Amazon, the books for my class), things that my daughter sends, the odd gift from friends. Actually, my postman probably thinks I'm a smuggler -- since moving here I've received packages from Britain, Australia, Korea, Czechoslovakia, Spain, and Morocco.

Where/what do I send?
Postcards -- and those travel various places.
Cards -- though I usually forget to mail them until the last minute.
Few bills are paid by mail, usually handle that online.
Package -- I participate in two or three international Secret Santa rings on other forums so those packages could go anywhere. I also send care packages to my daughter in Korea, my son in Florida, various baby and wedding gifts here and there.

Bills are mostly what we get, but I do get a block of the month in a mail from a quilt shoppe that's out of state from me.  

Most of the time, I get cards as thank yous for things like baby showers and such.  I also get birthday and Christmas cards.  Lessee...gifts usually around holidays and birthdays...

For letters, though, I just have a much easier time keeping up with people via email. :}

I think the last thing I got in the mail was bills and my cable guide.

The last thing I sent was a postcard which I sent from Osaka yesterday.  And I plan to write my grandmother soon.  She doesn't use e-mail at all ;)

Bills, magazines, post cards when it's someones birthday or some relative have travelled abroad. Too many ads.  Packages quite often since hubby likes to order things from web:  amazon, dcon etc

Yesterday I got some software I'd ordered and some junk mail. Usually it's a bill of some sort, junk mail.  Unless someone I know is on holiday when I might get a post card, or close to my birthday *hint hint 10 days to go ;) * when there might be birthday cards.

But I am expecting some books from ebay in the next few days, but I bet the postman won't be able to get them through the box, so I'll end up having to go get it from the post office itself.

I get bills, order forms (for a small niche publishing outfit for whom I act as the New Zealand agent), and parcels.  Lotsa book parcels.

Sending - I send book parcels too, for the books I sell on auction sites (local and overseas).  Last parcel was to Australia.  It was cheaper to send the 2.7kg box to the Aussie buyer than it would have been if she had lived in the South Island of New Zealand.  Crazy!

Letters ... I don't send letters these days with the exception of the occasional one to my granddaughter.  They live rurally and can't get the internet and besides, she loves getting mail in the box from Nana!  Cards ... sometimes.

I am a terrible correspondent.  Always have been, and email hasn't changed that.  People who know me send emails and then send follow up emails to my husband or best-book-friend asking them to make me reply!

(Strange then that I can almost keep up my end in coposts!  Must use a different part of my brain.)

I get the usual bills and stuff in the mail.  But yesterday the whole family got a little excited when a parcel arrived from Texas in the US of A.

Mark and Cailee fought over who gained possession of the teddy bear - but also Cailee demanded that the soccer ball was hers, and she uses it, and the box it came in, to play basketball.   They share equal time with the teddy bear.  Mark has it on the bed until Cailee goes to bed, and then its hers.

Me? I got a lovely rose wall quilt from the box.
