Accessing Archives

While on LOA recently, my desktop PC which previously received all of my posts from Triad, died, and took with it, all of my posts while being repaired (2 years worth of family pix as well - but thats another story).

Jane pointed me towards the archives to retreive my posts and coposts, but I'm having trouble logging in.  I put in my triad email addy as well as my password and I keep being told Authorization Failed.  What am I doing wrong??

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Pssst.  I'm not supposed to be talking in here, but if you've changed your Triad password at any time, try the one you originally joined up with.  I don't think it updates automatically.

I'm using the same password Clancey originally gave me.  Never considered changing it. :-

Which archives are you looking for, Kaysea?  The mailing list archives?  Those are not related to any login that we would have given you.  When you signed up for the mailing list, you should have put in a password.  You would have had to chose it.  If you don't know it, I believe there's a place on there you can request to have it sent to you.

Yep the mailling list archives are the ones I wanted.  I'll have to go see if I can find the relevant email for that, then.  Thanks hun!

Ack!!  I'll need some help with this too.  I haven't any emails regarding the maillis - they were eaten/destroyed as well. :-

At the bottom it says this:

To unsubscribe from Triad, get a password reminder, or change your subscription options enter your subscription email address:

If you leave the field blank, you will be prompted for your email address


Put your email in and it'll give you a place to get a password reminder.  That is a new e-mail to remind you.

Ack!

I tried to unzip the file rchives, but I keep being told they are not valid zip files.  How are they supposed to be opened, because winzip doesn't recognise them, neither does ZipALot?

They are Gzip'd.  I'd suggest a program like 7zip to take care of it.

7 zip won't open it either.

Oh, huh.  You know what?  Those aren't zipped.  LOL  I looked at the thing and it SAID it was Gzipp'd, but when you download it, it's just text.  Download it and save it as "June2008.txt" or change the extension after you download it from "___.txt.gz" to just "___.txt" and you can open it up with Wordpad or Microsoft Word no problem.

(Opening it with notepad will probably lose the formatting.)
