Now I know Triad is more technologically advanced than other weyrs out there, so I have a couple of questions.  They're probably kind of silly, but I just want to know.

Do they have stethoscopes?

I know that C-Sections are sometimes performed.  Here and now, there are two types.  Does Pern do the horizontal or vertical cuts?

Annnd...for some reason, I can't edit the topic, so adding this here:

Are there dolphineers who specialise in healing?  Perhaps healing that has to do with dolphins trying to find problems, kind of like sonographers?

Cali

As for the dolphin question... The dolphin healers have a basic understanding of human healing and the dolphins do sometimes help with identifying tumors and such, but it's on a very basic level.  The dolphins can explain something is there and it's not a baby, and if its small or large, but other than that, the language just isn't there.  More often than not, humans are brought to dolphins when healers just can't figure out what's wrong and it's worth a try to look for a tumor or something. :)

I hope it's okay to bump this up.  I didn't get an answer on stethoscopes. :)

They would have a version of a stethescope, though I think it would look more like this:

I think they use horizantal c-section (the Ancients would have known that was less likely to lead to complications).

And Cali was right on as far as the Dolphin healers - they would be like a sonogram technician, but not a clinician.  They could tell you what is seen, but not necessarily what you need to do about it.
