Talent?

If there was one thing you could do well, what would it be?

For me...probably painting.  I'd love to learn how to pain pretty pictures.  Alas...not for me.

Or perhaps singing.  I can sing okay, but I really lack a lot of skill.  I know I just need to practise, but I don't have much time for it I fear. :-/

Or pottery...

Okay, that's three things.  I'm sure there's more.

I'd like to be able to do something musical.  Singing would be good.

When I sing to my niece she shouts "Stop, Aunty Jane!  Stop!" and that was just Row, Row, Row Your Boat.  Sheesh!

I do have a talent.  I always thought God gave everybody one and was fairly peeved when I couldn't discover mine.  I had friends who could sing, friends who were sporty, and then I found out ...

... I can do algebra.

That's my talent.

Oh man...I'm horrible at math.  Now music and languages...those I can do.

I have no talent for languages.  I've lived in Japan four years and I still can only have a basic conversation.  (Of course, it would help if I actually studied...)

I wish I had a talent for conversation.  In any language.  My friends often comment that we have great conversations when we're one-on-one, but I tend grow silent in larger groups.  It's not that I'm disinterested, but I'm watching and listening to everyone else and don't really have a lot to say.  Part of it is that I'm naturally shy, part of it is just that I'm natually a quiet person and process a lot internally, and part of it is that large group discussions tend to be about things that I have no opinion on.  But I have noticed there are certain people who are just masters of conversation.  I'll watch them in a group and they just keep the conversation going and get everyone involved.  They seem to know exactly what to say to keep the conversation from dying.  I can't help but envy them a little.

I learned English and Spanish at the same time when I grew up. I'm horrible at Spanish grammer, and even my English can be sketchy at times.

My main talent is art. Painting, sketching, photography, anything visual. Also I'm good at prioritizing and multitasking. I kinda have to be for my job.

I can do most things moderately well but am not talented at them: singing, drawing & painting, acting, photography, even writing. Instead, my daughter excels at all of them!

However, my co-workers seem to find me talented in other areas, turning to me to edit photos, to write those letters that no one else can figure out how to word (and in shorter time than anyone else), to figure out what's wrong with the computer or copier, to step into a classroom and calm things down and to offer suggestions for what teachers can do in the future, to come up with a last minute activity suggestion and be able to identify exactly what the children are learning when they do it.

And with the drawing and singing, children up to 5 years old think I'm incredibly talented!  :laughing5:

I can sing ok.  I'll never be a professional, but I can sing in church choir and keep a tune.

Vix, I know what you mean about young children.  I had a five year old tell me once that I was the best piano player she'd ever heard.  If you could hear my piano playing, you'd understand how completely wrong she was!

That is me in a nutshell too, Eimi.  LOL.  My friend is always nagging me because I don't talk enough.  

As for talents, I like to think that I'm a good writer.  Writing has been my passion for a few years now.  My only problem is growing the discipline to develope that skill.  I've always seen myself in the future teaching upper elementary and writing on the side.
