Who or what did we base our characters off of?

After Jane started the post of where are characters came from, it got me thinking where did we get the inspiration for some of the characters that we created?

Here are my characters' stories:

M'delon (Madelon): I based him off of my to-be-husband Matt, only I made him thirteen instead of twenty-three. Matt always told me stories of when he was younger, and I thought it would be nice to base a character off of him. Also, Matt has become the source of a lot of inspiration in my life and M'delon was my way of thanking him for that.

R'set (Raset), N'los (Nicalos): They are based off of the idea of Matt's friends back when he lived in Virginia.

Enrad: I got the idea for Enrad from my best friend Brad, and like Matt, I took a few years off to create Enrad.

Ch'lis (Chemalis): Ch'lis is based off of my very close friend Charles. He is an arrogant, humorous, sweet guy who gives great big bear hugs and is always there when you need him most. I changed a thing or two, but Ch'lis and Charles are close to one and the same.

A'mus (Animus): The physical idea I had for A'mus is based off of someone I knew in high school, but his personality... well, I don't really know where his personality came from. That was sort of out of the blue.

Alasha: She is my Pernese equivalent. When I was younger I was just like her even in appearance, and still I'm pretty close (except for the long black hair). Of course years caught on and I changed, but Alasha represents a part of who I am. Some tales from her life are true and others are not, yet there are still many aspects of her life that remain hauntingly similar my own.

Murasha: Her appearance is based off of Monica Belucci, and her personality is a mix of many things. She is the polar opposite of my own mother.

A'berso and A'son (Anson): A'berso is a mirror image of my father, while A'son is based off of my own half-brother, Jason.

Nelaso and Hedona: Nelaso shares many similarities with my cousin Jeremy from appearance to personality, and Hedona is much like Jeremy's sister (my other cousin) Rachel, only a little more tame... for now :)

Well there you have it. What are your character's hidden stories?

Jane

Arateyka, journeywoman smith, RBW - Very distantly based on me.  I start every new club with a journeywoman smith as a representation of me.  (I was one of the first female aircraft mechanics in our Air Force.)

Jh'slaen, greenrider, RBW - Not based on anybody.

K'hetah, Wingleader, DCW - Not based on anybody.

Lineal, captain of the Sungazer, SWE - Not based on anybody.

Odarian, senior apprentice healer, DCW - Adopted.

Rahona, crewmember on the Sungazer, SWE - Not based on anybody.

R'haran, greenrider & Weyrharper, DFW - Adopted.

Rikka, journeywoman technician, AHH - Adopted.

Swift, kitchen hand, DCW-DH - Swift's age with respect to his health and fitness are based on the old chap across the road but the actual character pre-dates us moving into this house.

Teene, foster-mother, AHH-VH - Perhaps a little in appearance on my friend from work (years ago, when I was still working).

Tarehg, master dolphineer, DCW-DH - House, maybe, but I've only thought that after the event.  He's probably more just another iteration of a long-ago master craftsman.

Ylisahn, Headwoman, DCW - Not based on anybody.

Perhaps more of my early characters were based on real people but there's been so many changes over the years of writing that now they're based on earlier editions of their 'type'.

When I gave up writing in a lot of clubs I brought all my characters back to one club and discovered that I had three or four iterations of the same character!  I hadn't realised I was quite that bad!

I brought Alasha with me from from Trade Winds Weyr. I was tempted to recreate her, but I could not veer away from the original.

Another character I created back at Trade Winds was I'bellu, who is another character based off of some one I knew back in high school, and so was Ch'nad. They made an appearance in "An Egg for Enrad" and you can make a bet they will resurface in the Triads again :)

Nice topic, Stasha :D  My currents personas' stories are:

Traelyn: I was reading Jennifer Roberson's novel "Sword-dancer" back in 2004, and loved the description of the female protagonist, Del.  It was so unusual from everything else I'd come across in my readings.  At the time, I thought to myself that if I was to ever write a goldrider, she'd kind of look like Del: pale golden in coloring, tall and lean, but instead of blue eyes, she'd have gray.  And thus, my first inkling of Trae was born through description.  Her personality came to me soon after.  At the time, all my personas here were sweet and kind, and I wanted the challenge of writing a flawed woman with a fiery temper.  Trae's rash inclinations and complex insecurities sprang from her developing temper and past later on.

Nialyn: She was at one point a NPC I created for Eimi's Birigundi.  I had no intention of making her a PC....but Nialyn disagreed and showed me she had a mind of her own and had her own story to tell.  :D  The more I write her, the more I realize that she's like me in a lot of ways--which was completely unintentional.

Cinale: I adopted her on Bree's request during my first couple months at Triad.  With Cinale, I get to explore my more maternal side, I guess  :)

Larken: She was created just for me as a chance to play in the Harper Hall.  I was inspired by the story of Lancelot and Guinevere for Larken's SL, but in some ways, her temperament is similar to mine rather than to any fictional portrayal of Guinevere I've come across.

Some of my characters are based on me or one aspect of my personality.
Other are my attempts to explore some characteristics and rest aren't based on anybody special.

Their outlook may have got influence from various filmstars etc. (For example, Aileyan is young Wiona Ryder)
"The truth is out there but the lies are inside your head." Terry Pratchett

Gabriel Lorca: "I still don't give a damn.  .

Chloe: A list of everyone you've slept with in the past eight weeks.
Lucifer: Right. You'll need a much bigger notepad.

Maze to Lucifer: I'm worried that humans are rubbing of

*shrugs*
I don't base my characters on anyone. I figure out what type of character I want/need (dragonrider/crafter/holder, male/female, young/old) and go from there.

I, like Paula, sometimes just want to have a persona with a certain personality flaw or characteristic that I'd like to play with.  I think that's why I love playing with the bad guys XD  They have such interesting personality quirks!

Another thing I'll do is if I'll find a picture of a face that just speaks to me.  If I know how old the persona is going to be, I'll look for pictures of actors or athletes who are about the age that I'm looking for, and I'll just take one of that face and build the persona around that picture.

Kitali - She is based on me in some respects.  I'm a musician, sort of, though I focused on voice.  Kitali has a decent voice, but she's more of an instrumentalist and composer.

Zathris - he's based on a couple of guys, but mostly my husband.

Eliste - very much based on me, especially with her skills.  She's my less confident side.

Most of my characters hold aspects of myself in them. :)
