Quote from: "Jane"Well, I'm thinking of:
* perhaps a junior goldrider (for which I would need 5000 marks - and possibly the Council would quibble about joint ownership of one character so I might have to do that all myself).

Now I thought that the 5000 marks were only needed if you already have a queenrider... but you don't have any listed on your character sheet...

I guess I just like the idea of buying things.

Though perhaps there's a discount in it if I can show I don't have another goldrider tucked away anywhere.

Good thought, Stasha!

Now, how does one get a gold rider in Triad? I saw that some were brought in while others (like Teseada) were voted on for a hatching. How is it decided who can have a gold, when and how? Do the marks matter? Or is it something else?

Amanda N

Well, I know in the past there have been gold eggs and then a writing contest was done and a vote taken by members.

I also know that if you want a gold, you can spend 5000 marks to get one here.  That would take quite a while though.

I'm assuming how many people can have golds is determined by how many people already have them. :)

I've earned 5699 marks during the 17 months I've been here so it's do-able.

Amanda N

Lady, you are insane!  But that's okay. :)

Doable...yes...but very difficult!  I doubt I'll ever get that many! *G*

And really, if there are too many goldriders, what fun is that?

True, true.

And besides, every time I think about which would be better, green or gold, I find that greens are more desirable because there is less work, your dragon is not held back by a clutch, and you can be more inconspicuous (because lets face it, everyone knows who the goldriders are, they're like the famous people that are in the tabloids).

However, there is still something very tantalizing about playing a gold, and that maybe because not everyone can have a one. In character there is an assumed honor bestowed upon those who manage to Impress one, and it makes them uniquely special and sets apart from the rest of the dragonriders in the weyr, which can be a good or a bad thing.

Amanda N

Me?  I want a silver dragon.

Muwahahahahahaha!

I'm a bit confused...what are marks used for here?

So Eimi, If I get 10,000 marks, may I have a silver dragon?

Now as far as marks go. Doesn't some one go around and remove the marks when we've spent them? Because I got Ch'lis, Enrad and Alasha flits, but I can't see where the marks were removed... Nor can I see where the marks for the crayons were added.

Amanda N

Here's a list of rewards for you: http://www.triadweyrs.org/list_rewards.php?mb_id=211

Could you have possibly just built them back up after you spent your marks?

I think it's just that marks banking is running a little behind.

You would see marks being removed because they appear in red.

If you search for 'Forever' (an in Forever Requirements Free) on my rewards page you can see what they look like when they're removed.
