Just wondering, I know the Dolphin Hall is where the majority of the dolphins would be, but - would there be more pod bases around the coastline of southern Pern?

I have someone who could do with being seen by the dolphins but she lives on the opposite side of Southern from them, and can't fly /between/...

Oh yes, there are pods all over.  You can bet the seas, and therefore the coastlines, are teeming with dolphins ;)

Hmmm, but the river leading to DFW's inland sea would be fresh water, wouldn't it?

So she'd still have to travel  some distance by dragon.  (Wonders how long it would take from AHH to the sea...)  Anyone care to take a guess by direct dragon flight?

Hmmm.. I'm not sure how fast a dragon flies and how far they can fly straight in a day.  But this is what the AHH location guide says about getting to the sea from the Hold:

QuoteIf one were to navigate the canyon roads, a journey of about a day and a half, they could then take a barge and coach system down along the river to other communities. It eventually empties into the Sea of Azov to the south. From the southern tip of the valley to the sea is a journey of approximately 125-miles.

If you really want the persona to see the dolphins, I would suggest by land and boat.  It would be a journey of a few days each way, but I would think there is a lot of traffic between Amber Hills and the sea, so it would be easily arranged, and probably more practical than trying to find a dragonrider to fly the distance straight.

Might need to keep this in mind for a little further down the track.  Could make for a few good posts.

Thanks!
