Odd Japanese News

I don't know why, but I found these two new items rather odd today...

A 30-year old Japan Railway employee jumped in front of a bullet train, stopping service on that line for hours in an apparent suicide.  JRs take on the whole thing?  "That was an inexcusable thing for a Japanese Railway employee to do."  Yeah... I'm sure the honor of the company was the last thing on the poor guy's mind...

An 18-year old Osaka boy had to be chased down by police after he escaped from the police station where he was being interrogated for a theft.  How did the Houdini do it?  After being un-cuffed so he could draw a picture of the crime scene, all he had to do was wait for the sargent who was supposed to be interrogating him to fall asleep, and then he just walked out the unlocked interrogation room door...  Who would have thought?

Reaffirmation for my not to live in Japan.  He waited for the guard to fall asleep?!  Do all your police members fall asleep on duty?

I loves it! LOL - I love that in Japan you can actually wait for the policeman to fall asleep... that sort of thing makes me happy. And it's better than what's in the news up here right now...

Speaking of odd Japanese news, the fact that some mystery dude is leaving thousands of yen (equalling approximatly $82 CAN per envalope) in government restrooms made it to my local paper. Although it is a feel-good fairy-tale type news story...

Yeah, isn't that interesting?  Its a total mystery whose doing it and why.  It seems everyone has an opinion.  The guy has to a) have quite a bit of money and b) not be working since he travels all over the country.  That's all I can figure out about it.
