4th of July

How about letting us foreigners in on what goes on at your place and around the country for this holiday.

Let me see; fireworks?  I'm guessing ... football?  Big family meal?

How many Triad-folk will be doing the traditional things this time around?

Fireworks, barbecues, and overall partying is traditional. This year, Eric and I are going to watch the township's fireworks and grill hot dogs and roast marshmellows. No sports or alcohol or late-night partying for us, though! I have a final at 8AM Thursday ;)

Me for sure    We do the BBQ thing, go to the beach, see the rest of the family, watch fireworks, hang the flag outside the house...  It's going to be nice to get a day off of work in the middle of the week  :occasion8:

My husband and I got married on the 3rd of July, so we've sorta morphed it into a private holiday now. ;)

Though we may grill out with the best friends and the babies!

We barely do anything.  Sometimes my family heads into town and watch the fireworks, or go to my sisters friends house for a barbecue, swimming and fireworks across the lake.  Other than that its like a normal day for us.

It's the wrong time of year for football around here (American as opposed to soccer).

On the Fourth, I'll have a family picnic -- everyone on my mom's side of the family goes to my aunt's house, which means relatives driving in from Virginia and New Jersey. We'll sit around, talk, eat. We may wander next door -- a local church/school is having a carnival -- and see what's happening. When it gets too hot for us, we'll migrate to my sister's house and pop into the pool. My BIL will be setting off fireworks, but I'll head home before but possibly attend the local ones in the town park (about 3 blocks from here).

Hiya! We're going to a BBQ at my friend's house and then watching the fireworks from her driveway. i'm very excited. i love fireworks

Not sure what we're doing, but I have two days off this week instead of just Thursday. I'll probably be hanging out with my animals as hubby has to work and my family left on vacation.

In my college town there was a junior high school were most of the families would go to light off fireworks.  They'd all stand around the race track and shoot off all kinds of stuff, so it was almost like a constant fireworks show for hours with stuff being lit off all around you.  At the time I was working with Japanese students finding them volunteer activities to do, so we used that as an excuse to go.  We'd watch everyone's fireworks, light off a few of our own, then walk around the track and pick up the spent fireworks every 30 minutes or so to keep the place clean.  That was probably one of the funnest ways I spent the 4th of July.

Roxanne, I feel your pain.  I'll be alone till my hubby gets off work too.  He justtold me today that he "decided" to work.  "But babe, imagine the overtime!" *sigh* MEN. LOL
