So You Want a Ranker?

Rank procedures for both clubs:

Members may not have any active warnings or reprimands on their current ranking personas, and be under no disciplinary action by Council or the owner. If an L1 needs to know about warnings before deciding, he/she can email the Council.

If the rank has an adoptable ranker, a month or two may be requested as an audition period to see if the persona fits the writer. If the adoptable has PC relatives, that member's permission should be sought as well.


For non-mentored members:

Level One Rank

If open, L1 rank must be requested through the Council. Council will then vote and the Chair will reply, usually within one week.


L2, L3, L4 Rank

Request to the local Level One for L2, L3, and L4 ranks. If the L1 is amiable, they should reply to the email and cc the PA Team.  The persona should then be submitted for approval.

If there is no local L1, see the procedure for open L1 rank.

L5 Rank

See L1 rank, and the local L1's approval is required.

For MENTORED members:

Please ask your mentor's permission before approaching an L1 to request rank. If your mentor says you are not ready, please accept the decision and be patient. With good writing, that can change rapidly.

Mentored members must submit relatively error-free sheets to be approved for rank.

Mentored members should follow the procedures for L2, L3, or L4 rank listed above, and are NOT eligible for L1 or L5 rank.

There are No rank contests other than Gold Contests. We've tried one other type before (Weyrleader) and it bombed out rather miserably.

Did you know that this page doesn't show ALL open rank possibilities?

Not because Estelle's programming isn't excellent - but because we don't list all rank openings. The page just gets too long.

L2 openings NOT listed:

Hallseconds
Apprentice Masters

These ranks are OPEN at almost all Hall locations. Only Dolphin has a PC Hallsecond, and Beastcraft's Hallsecond is adoptable. There are *NO* PC Apprentice Masters anywhere.


L3 Ranks:

Master Craftsmen (weyr/hold)
Wingthirds

If you want a Master Healer, but all the ranks seem filled, request to make a Healer for a Hold. If you want a Master Mason, but don't want to be at GVH (maybe you crave a female Mason), request for the Weyr. And so forth.

Wingthirds, a rank reserved for blue/green dragons, act as the wing counselors and they lead the second half dragons into Fall (and oversee the majority of their training/drills). But we don't list them on the website as they are a "fanon" rank, non-existant in the books. But if you want your green/bluerider to hold wingrank, contact the Wingleader or Weyrleader of the wing you're interested in.

L4 rank

Almost all L4 rank is the kind you should ask for, as openings are not advertised usually. This especially includes:

bronzeriders, gold flit owners

Just ask the local L1 if interested in these!

Be patient... RL interferes and sometimes even the most solid ranks sometimes come open. Be even more patient, as occasionally we open new locations, and those who've put in time and effort in smaller methods are usually the first to be chosen.
