W'ser
W'ser

W'ser was making his usual morning rounds through the dragon
infirmary, stiff mug of klah in one hand as he tried to rub the grit
out of his eyes with the other.

"Good morning, Gelira," he greeted the greenrider. "Care to join me
for morning rounds?"

She had just finished up getting her things in place for the day when
she saw and heard the Weyrdragonhealer approach.

"I would be honored, as always, W'ser." Gelira said, moving to join him.

"Excellent, you can tell me about each patient as we arrive to them.
Just give me their stats and their latest update information." He knew
that Gelira was a Senior Apprentice, and he hoped that he would soon
see her as a Junior Journeywoman.

"Of course," Gelira replied, her hides in hand. She followed W'ser to
their first patient.

Their first patient was an older blue dragon. "Good morning,
Narlanth," Gelira greeted him as they entered. At a quick glace to
W'ser, she began telling about the dragon. "Narlanth has been with us
for," she glanced down at her hides, "six days now. We have been
treating his right wing for a Thread injury. If all goes well he
should be released within the next day or two. At last check the wound
was healed, but the hide is still very thin and fragile in that area."

W'ser nodded as he rubbed his fingers over Narlanth's eyeridges, and
then gave the greying blue neck a pat. "How are you feeling today,
Narlanth?"

}:He says he would rather be sunning with a green than sitting in the
infirmary.:{ Branth relayed with a hint of amusement at the older
blue's snippy answer.

"Well, Narlanth, I can't blame you." He said to the blue. "We'll get
you out of here as soon as possible. Just take it easy."

Gelira couldn't help but chuckled at the dragon's response relayed to
her through Charayoth as well. "I wouldn't mind being out in the sun
either, Narlanth," she added, following closely behind W'ser.

"Hardest thing about being a dragonhealer is watching them stay cooped
up for so long. With some dragons, we have to have one of the golds
give them an order to stay put." W'ser thought it fortunate that
Saibra was trained in dragonhealing, it sometimes made the process a
bit faster since he didn't have to overly explain a dragon's condition
to her.

She had known that the gold dragons helped when injuries were severe.
She made a mental note to have Charayoth ready to reach out if
necessary. While only an apprentice, she was never truly alone to
treat the incoming dragons.

"It is hard for _any_ of us to stay put, but the dragons need more
support as their emotions and their riders' can really take over." She
added. Moving to the next patient.

"Our next infirmary resident today is Ingaloth. She was Threadscored
during the last Fall. She had to have some stitches to stop the flow
of the ichor. She has been receiving treatments of numbweed four times
a day to assist with the pain and allow the stitches to heal." Gelira
walked in towards the green dragon. She had checked her dressing for
the journeyman just yesterday and all had seemed well. "Good day,
Ingaloth."

The green didn't acknowledge the two dragonriders other than to emit a
short, sassy huff of hair from her nostrils. W'ser grinned, used to
this green's attitude at this point. He'd learned with Ingaloth that
all was well if she was feeling sassy. "Let's just take a look at the
wound and the stitches and see how things are healing," he said as he
pried the bandage off of the green's neck.

Gelira leaned in, watching W'ser as he examined the injury inspection.
"I'm hoping to be able to devote more time back to my studies once
some of the extra Falls and sweeps let up." It had been tough since
the loss of River Bluff. They were running twice as many shifts
sometimes to try and cover all the necessary ground.

"I thought the extra riders that landed here from River Bluff would
have helped ease that some," W'ser said conversationally as he took in
the neat row of stitches, noting that the journeyman who had put them
in had done a nice job. "Stitches are holding well. You want to
bandage that back up?" he offered Gelira.

"Oh it helps," Gelira replied, moving to get clean bandages, "but it's
still alot more territory to cover each day, so shifts and Falls tend
to be longer or harder as we divide and conquer so many areas at
once." She carried the bandages over to Ingaloth. "Here, now,
Ingaloth, I'm just going to cover your stitches again so they can
heal," Gelira always liked to make sure the dragons knew exactly what
she was doing it and why.

Ingaloth paid the greenrider no mind, leaving her eyelids shuttered.
W'ser shook his head at the green's behavior. "How is your little one
doing?" he asked Gelira as she replaced the bandage.

"Oh, he is doing great. Thankfully his grandparents and uncle take
amazing care of him, and I still get to spend time with him each
night. Though most of the time, he stays the night with them so I can
be rested and ready for a new day. It's amazing how fast they grow!"
She remarked. "There, all done," she declared moving away from the
dragon and the bandages.

"On to the next one then," W'ser said, giving Ingaloth a pat on the
neck before leading the way to their next patient.
