Well, I wanted to wait until I had a persona to submit before I said hello... but that isn't working out so well at the moment. So I figured I'd say hi before I finished fighting it.

It's been a while since I read a Pern book, but I'm starting to reread Moreta again. As for hobbies, I watch storms and study meteorology and psychology. I'm sure I could list a couple of other things that would flesh me out as a complete geek. :) Let's see. I'll be 21 on October 30th (looking forward to that), and I'm currently living in southwestern Ohio. The only other thing I can think to say about myself is that I'm studying for EMT-Basic.

I've been enjoying lurking and reading the posts. Hopefully I'll be able to join in soon. If anyone has time to offer any spare advice on locations versus newbies, I'd appreciate it. I guess they'd all have pretty much the same learning curve, though.

Devin

Welcome, Leanna!

Any and all locations are good for newbies. Everyone here is very nice and helpful so don't worry about jumping right in.

Francesca

Welcome!

I'm also 21 and in Ohio, although I'm in the northeast.  I think newbies are pretty well spread out, with maybe a few more at the Weyrs because that's part of the appeal of Pern.  But, you should start wherever you feel most comfortable.  Maybe the Dolphin Hall, with a dolphineer who specializes in meteorology? ;)  I have a persona there and would love to copost!  (I would love to copost at any location though.)

Welcome Leanna!
Any area will do and you'll find willing coposters.

Of course, you could always earn some marks for member rewards by creating a character at a bonus location

Welcome Leanna!

I think just about anywhere is a good place to start here in Triad. What sort of persona are you thinking about?

I'm not very geographical, so I have no idea how close you are to where my relatives who live in Ohio are. They are located in Colombus and the Cleveland area of Ohio.

Hi Leanna,

Welcome to Triad.

My often-given (not always taken) advice about where to make first personas is always to make them at a busy location.  Makes sense, really.  After that it's purely personal preference.

I am a long way way from Ohio.  A long way south.  :geek:

Welcome Leanna!!

Anywhere is great for starting, but I agree with Jane :) Busy locations are good for new people.

However, with all the ::coughsAmandaVixJaneKaysea:::  wonderful NPC writers we have out here, any place you go will find you a coposter (either PC or NPC :))

Also, you'll get a mentor too and they will help you settle on in!!!

Welcome! You come at a great time where we have fun new things happening !

It got changed a LONG time ago in one of my web updates, and I've yet to go back and change it!  I need to go find a nice normal winky guy, but I just keep forgetting.  :D

And welcome!!!  :D  I am not around as much as I used to be, but I still like seeing new people!  And you're in good hands with the many wonderful people who have jumped on you thus far.  LOL  (WATCH OUT!  The copost fairies are after you.  You better hide!)

Welcome Leanna! (I hope I'm not late again, like with the last newbie)
If you create a sona to Emerald Falls hold, you get a co-post with the Lord Holder.

Welcome Leanna!  Have no fear, you are among fellow geeks!  Welcome welcome!  Email me, let's start plotting! :-D

Thank you all. :) I've never been in a large club before, so it might take me a while to get used to it.

I knew I wanted a crafter, I just didn't know what or where yet. Seems I can think up personalities a lot easier than I can settle on anything. I want something where I can use something I'm already reasonably familiar with. Like with the Dolphin Hall I'd probably be able to use some EMT knowledge. I'm a wee bit intimidated by Pern's meteorology, though. ;)

I live near Dayton so Columbus is a bit down I70. I drove through both last year on my way to my uncle's for Thanksgiving.

Not sure I need to say this, but of course I'd love to co-post with everyone. And I'm about to e-mail you back, Amanda. (Sorry if I missed anything!)

Amanda N

Whoowhoo!  I'm getting an email back!

Hell, and welcome! Even if you've never been in a big club before, Triad's pretty welcoming - you'll fit right in. :)

Oh wow!  Sorry, I missed this thread somehow.  Welcome Leanna!  Sorry to be late!
