Once you see it, you will be converted to the joys of David Tennant

Okay, I'm a sporatic Who watcher so I don't know all the mythology.  Somebody said that the Doctor can only regenerate a certain number of times, anybody know how many that is?

And I was Watching Midnight last Fri and had to run to the door at the end can sombody fill me in on what I missed?

Edit:  Okay, I guess

doesn't work on this forum.  How do I make spoiler text so people aren't spoiled who haven't seen it?

Copy and pasted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who

<i>As a Time Lord, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate his body when near death. Introduced into the storyline as a way of continuing the series when the writers were faced with the departure of lead actor William Hartnell in 1966, it has continued to be a major element of the series, allowing for the recasting of the lead actor when the need arises. The serial The Deadly Assassin established that a Time Lord can regenerate twelve times, for a total of thirteen incarnations (although at least one Time Lord, The Master, has managed to circumvent this). To date, the Doctor has gone through this process and its resulting after-effects on nine occasions, with each of his incarnations having his own quirks and abilities but otherwise sharing the memories and experience of the previous incarnations.</i>

I wonder what the scriptwrites do when they reach the max number of regenerations...

Chloe: A list of everyone you've slept with in the past eight weeks.
Lucifer: Right. You'll need a much bigger notepad.

It depends whether they take that as canon or not.

<spoiler>
Canon might have been broken when John Simm's Master did not regenerate after being shot at the end of series 3 - the Doctor urged him to regenerate.  Also, they are not counting the Paul McGann film as canon, so therefore that Doctor may or may not have existed.

Cali - I just turned the text white - you need to hi-light it to read, it's the nearest you'll get ;)

Amanda N

Actually, I can still read it when it's white.  Perhaps turning it grey?

Amanda N

Well, it did say that one Time Lord was known to circumvent that amount of regeneration.  Maybe Dr. Who will too. :)

Hear hear.

I liked the previous one when he was on, and was disappointed when he was replaced... but the more I saw of David Tennant the more I loved him...

I have a dislike for nearly all the companions I've seen though... Donna has been my fav. so far, but Rose and Martha both improved *after* they split with the Doctor...

I always favoured Mickey ;) But rumour has it he's going to be in Torchwood - that is if the actor isn't off writing/directing again.

Amy

Well yes, I /love/ /lovelovelove/ Jack. (And the recent comment "Who's he" someone made in reference to him lately made me laugh).

I saw John barrowman in concert not that long ago.  It was a great night -we were three rows from the front, and yes he did bring out Captain Jack's coat.  It was all wrinkled on the stand, so he said he was going to 'straighten him out'. We roared with laughter.
