Anyone else play MMOs?

Ours are still a bit too young. :}  I'd love to play Everquest, but I'm really afraid that I'll get addicted to it and neglect my responsibilities if I start playing.  You know...Evercrack and all.

Well..I don't have kids myself, but my family has custody of three of my little cousins who are quite a handful at times.  These RPG's are often what keeps me sane!

When my kids are around, we all play! While I'm playing RuneScape, my son plays Everquest. My daughter normally plays around with her photos or chats, though she plays occasional online games. The living room definitely looks like an internet cafe with all of us here.

That's how it is with Matt and I. I'll be on my computer and he'll be on his. Sometimes we're playing guildwars together, other times we aren't. And other times we are sitting curled up together on the couch while we are both playing Dynasty Warriors together. Not an MMO, but it is still a very good game.


Oh, and slightly on, but off topic-

To show you just how geeky we are. Last year Matt was trying desperately to find Dynasty Warriors 2 for PS2. Now that's nearly impossible, but I hunted it down, and as a present I got it for him, obviously he loved it. Then for Christmas Matt got me a minipet on Guildwars called a Kuunavang, which is a miniature dragon in the game that is becoming very rare to get. I was so happy to get it, even though it was an online present, I loved it :D

I play a mesmer, and have been playing for almost two years now... she's even a legendary survive... sorry I'm so proud of that.

Legendary Survivor is ridiculously hard to get, especially on a squishy like a Mesmer. I'm impressed!

I have one of every GW character except for Monk and Ranger, but my Warrior, Paragon, and Mesmer get the most play.

I love that GW doesn't have a monthly fee, and how the games are all about $20-30 now. It's easy to pick it up, play, not play for 5 months, and then come back, and you don't have to worry about losing your characters 'cause you didn't pay the fee!

A class in Guild Wars One of the least stereotypical ones, imho. Like, all games have the blade warrior, the healer, the mage...but mesmers are fairly unique.

Sure! My Paragon is working through Elona so we can work together. Also, have you done the Dunes of Despair mission in Prophecies? (The Crystal Desert Ascension ones). That one is _killing_ my Warrior- doing it with another human would be great.

That actually sounds kind of cool.  I bet I would enjoy playing, but really, I just don't have a long enough chunk of time to sit down and do it consistently. :-/

That's the cool thing about GW (Guildwars). You don't need to play for huge chucks of time. When I play it's for an hour, maybe more if I do have the time.

Oh, Avril. My main character's name is Opelia de Leon, if you want to add me to your friend's list so you can see when I'm on. Then we can get together and do Dunes of Despair. I need to get the bonus mission done on that still so I can get Legendary Protector, so we can kill two rocks with one stone ;)

Stasha's totally right about the time. I usually have 40 minutes between classes, and even that's enough time to accomplish something. Even the missions never take more than 30 minutes, generally. So it's very easy to play in short chunks throughout the day.

Everquest is what started it all though. I actually have a respect for it because of that, or else I would never have Guildwars

I do remember a show though that made a reference to the game. Basically this kid was completely addicted to the game, and was beating his friends when they logged off the computer, because the game kept going whether or not you were there. So while you are gone for an hour some one can come and wipe you out.

Anyway, this kid refused to leave, especially when he knew his friends would be there. But his brother forced the kid to go to prom. He pulled the kid to prom kicking and screaming, and when he returned to his precious game everything he had created had been destroyed because his friends did NOT go to prom

It was pretty funny how they played it.
