I don't know... If I had five weeks, I'd spend maybe one or two of it traveling, and the rest of the time in my own apartment sitting on my lazy butt.

Traveling is great in small doses, but honestly, when it comes to a vacation, sometimes there's nothing better than just being home.

Lately, I've been wanting to go to Yellowstone.  I wouldn't say no to Australia or a tour of Europe.  I'd love to go back to Scotland.

Eimi

Ah yes, Yellowstone.  I love Yellowstone... I camped out there for five nights back in 2003...  It's an awesome place.  I can't wait to go back there.  I also drove over to Mt. Rushmore which wasn't about a... 6 hour drive?  or there abouts... But there was also Devil's Rock and Little Big Horn between Yellowstone and there.

I saw Mount Rushmore during a cross country trip, but it seemed much smaller than I thought it would be. What was impressive, however, was the Painted Canyon in North Dakota. Up close during a sunset the canyon is just breath taking.

Eimi

I missed the Painted Canyon... I've never driven across the country, but that's probably what I'd spend my two weeks on my five week holiday doing ;)

Yeah, Mt. Rushmore does look smaller than you would think, but then again, you're a little far away from the top ;)

I kinda figured that's why it was so tiny :)

I'd love to travel to other countries.  I'd have to say Japan first, then probably China and Australia and New Zealand.  If we had time, Europe.  Oh man, how I wish we could do that!

Quote from: "Jane"Naturally I'm staying at home, though I will admit I did investigate travelling by air to Adelaide and by train (the Ghan) right up the middle of the country to meet them in Darwin for the wedding.

Mum's off on the Ghan in June or July.  Then across to Broome from Darwin as part of the tour - I swear she's spending my inheritance before she goes. LOL

She's off to NZ in February with four of her gf's.  So when she arrives you can tail her around the place and keep an eye on her for me!  You did promise me last year after the England/Europe/States trip - remember???

Anyone who can only think of only one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination.

My Dad's off to the US and Canada to do some canal trips.  Rideaux Canal?  (Did I get that right?)  And some others.  Six weeks.

If I wasn't such a home body I'd offer to go with him so he has company!

Well, instead of tailing her, just tell her that if she ends up in Palmerston North she should pop in for morning/afternoon tea or get in contact and we'll all go out for a meal.

My parents are off to their third trip to Alaska this summer, my aunt and uncle are on a "Rivers of Europe" cruise, and though my daughter just spent 3 months in Europe and northern Africa, she's planning out her next trip.

Me? I'm poor. I stay home.

We're poor too.  The only reason we're going to Maryland is because Kurt's parents are footing the bill. :-D

But if you were rich and had five weeks holiday away from work, where would you go?

Japan, China, Korea, Australia.  If I had time, Europe.  Only five weeks?

I don't work outside the home, so getting 'time off' is usually only an issue with my husband. :-D

I'm poor and stay home as well. The only vacations we've ever been on is Disney ones, mostly because for in-state folks, Disney World is only $45 a ticket, and that's viable if we save.

I would like to visit England, because that's where my grandmother comes from; Mexico, because of Mayan ruins; and Japan.

Oh man, I want to go back to Disney World!  I should put that down as one of the places I would go! :-D
