I love to roleplay and have done so in a medieval setting before.  Kurt found this  -  I thought it was interesting, and thought some of you might like it as well:

Ah, but eating medieval is the fun part XD  Watch out for flying chicken bones!

They talk about Renaissance Fairs in the article.  Have you guys been to these?  I've heard about them but they seem to be a particularly American thing.

I haven't been to one before, but I want to go. They hold a few here in Oregon every year, and they also hold some pretty crazy pirate festivals too.

In fact, one of the pirate festivals is going on right now, so I get to baby sit my neighbor's cat.

I haven't been to a Renn Faire for several years, but am looking forward to attending Maryland's this summer. They really are lots of fun, with bawdy ballads, mud wrestling, sword swallowers, jousts, and actors running about in character and involving the attendees in their little dramas.

Vix, you're in Maryland?  My inlaws are up there.  In fact, they're flying us up there in July.

I've been to the Texas Ren fest back when we lived only an hour away.  Now we're about four to five hours away.  There's one about an hour away from us that happens in the Spring called Scarborough Faire, but we've not managed to make it yet.  Probably won't again this year.   :verzweifelt:

*g* I'm probably the only one to have been to the real Scarborough Fair!  And I hate to spoil the illusion, but it's a modern day fun fair by the sea side, with ice creams, fish and chips and candy floss!

Which part of Maryland? I live in the DC Metro area -- Gaithersburg, to be exact.

Last time you went was with Em, wasn't it?? I think she told me you two met up for one?  And she goes the whole hog with corset and massive skirts - so she looks like a maiden???

Anyone who can only think of only one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination.

Wow, Vix, they're really close to you!  They live in Olney, less than a half hour away! :)

I usually try to attend the Michigan Renaissance Festival at least once every year.  The street actors are humorous at times, and the shows are even more so.  If I was..say..150 pounds lighter I'd probably dress up.  lol

Nope, that was in late October and the Faire was closed. However, at the site of the PA one, Mount Hope Winery, they were holding a Poe Festival, so we attended that, drank lots of wine, enjoyed the drama. . .

Aww, we're going to be there in July.  Oh well, you can't have everything.

Thanks for the information!
