Ooo, that sounds good too. LOL it reminds me of what my friend's boyfriend was eating the other night: Peanut Butter and Bacon.  Just like that.  Peanut Butter and Bacon :gag: I gave him soooo much crap for that! LOL

I haven't had that for years.
And it's only good with mayo.

Peanut butter and mayo on a hamburger/cheesburger with tomato is delicious as well.

:P He and my old roommate would get on well together. She had a thing for bbq sauce. Once I caught her eating bbq sauce on a peice of iceburg lettuce.

My only 'weird' food is marmite, and that isn't even that odd to Brits. It's good in a cheese sandwich.

As to the egg/bread debate... bread dipped in egg and fried is French Toast, and is eaten with maple syrup. Egg dropped into the hollow middle of a piece of bread is something else entirely, but I'm not sure I have a name for it besides, "egg dropped into a piece of toast with a hole in the middle."

Eimi

Oh hey!  Is French Toast and French Fries still called "Freedom Toast" and "Freedom Fries" in the American Congressional Cafeteria?  Or have we pretty much forgiven the French now?

What is marmite? I don't think I've ever heard the word before.

I'm pretty sure we've forgiven the French.  I haven't seen "Freedom" anything in years.

It's similar to vegemite -- in my opinion, a little milder in taste.

I have no idea about the congressional cafeteria Eimi, but you obviously haven't been around a military base recently Patrick. :) EVERYTHING there uses "Freedom" or something similarly patriotic somewhere.

Really? I haven't seen Freedom seriously being used anywhere, although the AFROTC at my school uses it mockingly to refer to our food.
they/them/theirs! My Personas

I guess it depends on where you are. When I was in Virginia, everything was "Freedom Toast" or "Freedom Fries" or "Patriotic Pie", but where I am right now is much more relaxed. The fires are actually French, although the French bread is generally called Cuban, although it is not true Cuban bread. Weird.

oooooo Did we forgive the Cubans too?  My, I leave country for a few years and everyone turns friendly all of a sudden ;)

In Japan fries are called "POTEITO FURAI" or "FURAI POTEITO" - in other words "Fry Potato".  And HAMBAGA and HAMBAGU are both made of friend meat loaf, the only difference being that a HAMBAGA is a meatloaf-burger and HAMBAGU is just a meatloaf patty with stuff on top.

Nope I've never actually been to a Military base.  And now that I think of it, most people just say "fries" not "french fries" so the french is kind of just left alone mostly.  I do hear people say "French Toast" though, so as to not get it mixed up with regular toast.
