Thanks for welcoming me to the club I was recently gifted a box of Pern books and, as I enjoy writing and plotting and probably spending far too much time developing over-complicated family trees, it was exciting to find there's a writing club devoted to these books.

I'm still brainstorming the ins and outs of my first character but I have decided he will be a 16yo youngster at Barrier Lake Weyr with a newly Impressed green dragon.

He's hold bred from a family that has traveled often due to his Master Healer father's various postings and I'm keen to create some distant family hooks for him. Think cousins, second cousins, old friends, or even some former romantic liaisons - kept secret in the past but perhaps now it's not so necessary.

depending on the various postings, i can offer v'dryn, who was the son of a steward from a nearby hold who is 18 and recently graduated. they could be friends, maybe a lover, kinda whatever you want to explore.

It's so rare to find someone that hasn't been entrenched in this fandom since the 90s/2000s. I hope the books held up!

I have Aydhara, a weyrbred bluerider girl that'll be in your weyrling class. I can also offer J'cello- he's a greenrider in his early 20s that could have been a Searchrider. J'cello and V'dryn were classmates so they could also know each other through that connnection.

Welcome to Triad, Kane! And lucky you, a box of books is a wonderful gift. I hope you're enjoying them. Pern seems to work well for fan fiction, there's so many unexplored areas from the books to discover (and dragons!)

I'm looking forward to finding out about your character I don't have any living at Barrier Lake right now but do have some dragonriders from other Weyrs that pop in now and again!
