Firelizards wouldn't be able to go between with a dead person in mind, would they? I mean, has that ever been established? I would think not, because, it seems to me that teleporting being a mental ability, they'd need a mind to lock in on even if they use a visual of the person to represent the target. And if you're dead, so's your mind.

I can't remember if it was ever an issue in the books and I haven't read the very latest ones. Has it ever been established in the club? What's everyone's thoughts on it? If you sent a firelizard to someone, and they happened to have just died, would they go? I don't think they would. I think they'd be really confused, like when you pretend to throw a toy down a hall and the dog halfway runs down the hall to retrieve it, but then realizes something's up and stops and gets all confused. (done that, it's hilarious!) The firelizard would get all confused if you tried to send it to someone who'd died, I think, and just not go. Might get upset too, like, "Why're you telling me to go to this person who doesn't exist anymore???" upset. Only with more screeching and unhappy mental impressions and less actual words. LOL

Yes, I'd say they just wouldn't go.  They might go somewhere with the image of a place in mind that doesn't exist (just as a dragon could) and get lost /between/ or between times perhaps even, but with their telepathic abilities, I'm pretty sure they would know that the person they've been told to find is off the map, so to speak.
