Just letting you guys know what's going on

My apologies to my coposters who are used to my really fast responses.  Also, apologies to anyone to whom I said I would send a start and haven't.  This last week has been kind of...meh.

Last week, our van had to have 800 dollars worth of work done on the brakes.  Then, Kurt had taken the van to take it back because it was acting funny and they had to loosen the brakes in the back (they were too tight).  I took the car that afternoon and got out of the house with the children because we were so stir crazy.  Then I brought them by his work place and we switched cars, him taking the car with the children and me taking the van (didn't want to have to switch the car seats).  We live off a highway and on his way home, at an intersection, a truck at a stop sign pulled out in front of him.  Kurt saw him and slammed on the brakes, but there wasn't enough time to come to a complete stop.  The two collided  Fortunately, because he did slam on those brakes, the collision wasn't bad.  Everyone is just fine, but our car has about 1,300 dollars worth of work to be done on it - if we even decide to bother.  We might just take the check and fix up our other older, but not as much mileage on it, car.  Anyway, that was Monday.  

For the last couple of weeks I've had some soreness in my chest.  I've had it before, the cartilage gets inflamed and causes soreness and it's been acting up.  Well, since last Thursday, I've been having heart palpitations.  Granted I was pretty suspicious it was due to stress, but the combination was worrisome.  So yesterday I went to the doctor.  My blood pressure was fine.  He listened carefully to my heart and did an EKG.  Everything looks fine. However, due to some heart disease in my family (maternal grandmother and grandfather both), he will be sending me to a cardiologist, just to make absolutely sure.  Since the EKG was so good, it's going to wait until after the first of the year.

Anyway, The last few days have had me rattled.  I'll be getting back to my normal posting rate soon, but I just wanted to let you guys know why I've been flakier and more out of it than usual.
