Really?  Why is that Eimi?  Are they not trained well? I've actually heard some scary things about Japanese detention...

No.  Actually they're trained a little too well.  I sat and watched them go through a training exercise the other day.  It took them 2 or 3 minutes just to get 3 guys into the perfect triangle formation so that they could run 3 steps, turn 90 degrees, run another four steps, turn back 180 (and these are military precision turns, not whirling around mind you), just to run back to their original position.  Then they had to roll out the hoses at the perfect angle and at the exact length (coutning OUTLOUD each step as they ran - knees to chest, exactly uniform strides), turning and standing at attention until the next guy ran up with his hose, make the connection, yelled something, did another 90 degree turn, ran counting to the desired length the hose would eventually be at and took his place on the perfect triangle.  Once they were all there they took another minute to adjust to make sure they were at the right angle to each other.  Then one of the picked up the hose, and it took another 30 seconds to get his feet the desire distance apart (not an approximate, I swear to god I saw a ruler come out).  Then the other two pull out an axe and a hook, and they all strike a pose.  The fire chief then tells the hook guy that his pose is not quite correct as his hands are too far apart on the shaft and turns to the other to tell him the axe should be held at a steeper angle.  Meanwhile, the imaginary building would have been a pile of charred rubble by now, and perhaps still even smouldering.

Yeah, I think I lost faith in Japanese firefighters right then...
