Hello zany crew!

New here but not to PbP although it has been so long, I have forgotten where I used to be. :-/

Pern was my first real series I ever got into (although the lost me with the last couple books)

Currently driving my mentor crazy with questions so it may take a  while for me to create a persona. I'm touching stuff seldom discussed so lots of back and forth. Planning to be joining you eventually just not before I am ready.  :-P

Any recommendation for an area?

Corrin

Welcome! We're happy to have you!

Areas would probably depend a bit on what you're planning on creating, if you're up for sharing more about that.

Purely statistically speaking Dragonsfall Weyr (DFW) is our most active Weyr, followed by Dolphin Dove Weyr (DCW). Emerald Falls Hold is our most active Hold.

Besides taking your planned character type into consideration, you might also consider just reading some posts on the email list for a bit and seeing if there's any characters you'd particularly like to interact with, and take note of what areas they're in.

I picked Dragonsfall as my starting point (and it's still where the bulk of my characters are) because there were good character connections for my first character there.

Devin

Come to Dolphin Cove! ;) I have the Weyrleader there, and several others. Lots of opportunities for interaction whether you have a Candidate, crafter, or rider.

Sia

I'll make the decision even harder and suggest Barrier Lake Weyr, because I know what character type you're looking to do, LOL

And I'm the current Weyrleader there; I'm almost as biased as Devin ;)

But yes, I agree with Corrin- take your time and read the posts on the list, and see if there's any particular location that strikes your fancy!

Heather

Welcome :)

I write for the Weyrwoman at DFW (along with many other personas), but also dabble with characters in all locations.

I would love to see you at the frigid cliffs of Dragonsfall, but will be happy to offer coposts and plotting wherever you land!

Corrin

Glad you're having some fun with the archives. n.n

There's also a Triad Newsletter where the location managers summarize some of the recent plots of their areas. It's a little out of date right now, as people have been rather busy, but you might still find it useful for a rough overview! I know I really enjoyed it when I first joined myself.

If you're curious about the prolific-ness of the writers/areas, we also have a neat stats page that Estelle put together!

If you intend to have your persona Searched I have a Searchrider at DCW!
