For years the policy at Triad Weyr has been "plain text only" for posts being sent to the mailing list.  With upgrades to the website and archive system, we're relaxing this rule.

Please see the following guidelines:

Rich or Plain Text Welcome
Members are welcome to send posts to the list in either rich text or plain text, whatever works best for them. For the sake of the timeliners and general readability on the email lists, please stick to the following guidelines:

  • Posts cannot have any formatting such as color, bold, italics, underscores, strikethroughs, etc
  • Text should be sent to the list in 11 size font (or size 'normal' in gmail's composer) in the sans-serif fonts calibri or arial (these are pretty generic and default for most email composers and google docs)
  • some punctuation marks, such as em dashes, don't translate onto the site. Using two hyphens -- in place of an em dash will keep this from happening

Google Docs Helpful Tool
To remove all formatting when copy/pasting over from google docs (or other emails) copy the text as you normally would and then "ctrl + shift + v" or "right click + paste without formatting" ("cmd + opt + shift + v" on macOS) into your email composer.

Why is the rule relaxing?
Sending posts to the list without composing them in the "plain text" format allows the text to naturally wrap, rather than getting the hard clipped lines from plain text's line character limit, allowing better readability for some members on mobile phones.

If you have questions, you can ask in the "Help me" section on Discord, but if all else fails, just know that you can keep doing what you've been doing unless you would like to explore your rich text options :)
