Estelle and I are working on a chess related copost. We've figured that the 'knight' pieces would be renamed (and shaped, likely) as 'dragons' and 'bishops' would be 'craftmasters' and 'castles' would be 'holds' but we're not sure if the 'king/queen' pieces would be 'weyrleader/weyrwoman' or 'lord holder/lady holder' or, perhaps both, depending on if you were in a weyr or a hold.

What do you all think? Anyone know for sure? Or have an opinion?

Thinking over the span of time involved, I believe they'd been "Lord" and "Lady" because I believe it would apply to whether or not they were dragon riders or not as a Bronzerider is considered a "Lord" and a Goldrider is considered a "Lady" as far as the holders are concerned.  And that applies to all bronze and gold riders not just the Weyrleaders.

That is just my opinion no basis in research.  "Lord F'lar" is often addressed that way in the books.
