So... I'm a girl who likes her epic plots of intrigue, drama, romance, betrayal, power... all of that. And look! "The Borgias" on Showtime and Game of Thrones on HBO (US stations). Is anyone else out there watching these, plan to...? I'd love to have people to gossip, moan, and groan with - cheer at the awesome, and sob at the "wait, WHAT?" moments.

For those who haven't read the books - Game of Thrones is based off of George RR Martin's _A Song of Ice and Fire_ series, and all I can say is 'epic complicated high political fantasy', and 'the man has no compunctions about killing characters'.

The Borgias is based off of the historical family from Spain that moved to Italy, took over the Papacy, and was the basis for Niccolo Macchiavelli's "The Prince".

There's a 15-minute preview of GoT you can find around, and the first episode of the Borgias is out already. :)

Can you just bear in mind that we are spread over quite a lot of the planet and don't always get to see things at the same time.  I'm not saying son't discuss it, just please let people know if there are spoilers so they can choose whether to read it. Sometimes us poor Brits can  wait up to a year to see some things, other times we'll get it the same day or week.

Having said that they say Game of thrones here will be shown the day after....

Same for us Finnish, we're usually a season or two behind US.

I've seen ad about Game of Thrones, but it's on pay-channel, so :(
I've read the books though (not all perhaps, but the first fews that's been translated to finnish language.)

Currently both me and my son are enjoying high class brittish fantasy in a form of "adventures of Merlin", that is, if I can get past how badly they mangle  Arthurian mythology. I mean, Merlin was much older than prince Arthur, shells, he was there when Arthur was sired! Or Guinevere as serving maid!

I have free showtime for a bit so I'm planning on watching the Borgias myself until I run off. Then we'll see since I think the techies have told me I can get to my DVR at home via the internets on the computer even when Im at sea.

Gotta love technology....

I don't plan on throwing any spoilers -- India's a few seasons behind on a handful of things. I'm possibly going to be getting send DVDs with the tv episodes, so... I understand completely the "Why did you _say_ that!?" . At the same time - nice to know who is and is not interested in things, so I know who I can rant with, and who simply doesn't want to know.

I think Sky will be showing GoT concurrently... I'm not sure about the Borgias.

I quite like Merlin. Although you are right about how they twisted the legend, I mean Arthur was never supposed to have known his father...

It looks like I have the first episode of The Borgias on On Demand, so I'll watch that tonight or tomorrow.

Camelot (On the Starz network) is getting really good initial ratings as well so I'm going to add that to my to do list as well.
