Hello Triadians!

The Council has been busy working behind the scenes trying to clear up a few things on the FAQ and in our policies.  There are a few things we are working on and I'm sure you'll see more announcements soon.  We will be making a change to the FAQ that probably will not have much of an effect on all of you, but we wanted to let you know about the change in policy anyway.

You may remember that the FAQ has always said that you could have a ranker as your first persona as a member if you submitted a perfect persona sheet and were given Council permission to do so.  However, in all the years I have been working with the PA team, we have never given a ranker to a new or returning member as their first persona.  Therefore, we decided it would be more fair to just say straight out that no rankers will be given to new members or to returning members as their first persona.  That of course does not bar them from having a ranker while on mentorship.  This is only for a new/returning member's FIRST persona.  So the FAQ will now read as follows:

QuoteHow many personas can I have while on mentorship?

While on mentorship, you can have up to 3 personas. Each persona must be introduced before the next can be submitted.

Members on mentorship may have a L3 or L4 rank if they are able to submit an error-free persona sheet.

Please note, it is our policy that a members first persona should not be a ranker.

QuoteI'm still a member on mentorship wanting rank

A member on mentorship wishing to obtain rank should first ask the Level One Ranker in charge of the area in question for permission to submit a persona for a given rank. If the Level One Ranker gives permission, a sheet may be submitted, and should be close to or completely error free. Level One Rank is almost never considered for members still on mentorship.

Please note, it is our policy that a members first persona should not be a ranker.

QuoteI'm a lurker or new member wanting rank.

Rankers are reserved for members who have a proven interest in the club and have a firm grasp of Triad canon, and therefore we do not allow a new or returning member a ranker as their first persona. It is possible, however, to have a ranker while still on mentorship if the member has been active in the club and the Council and their mentor agrees that they have a good understanding of canon.

In order to gain a ranking persona for open rank, you'll have to do three things. First, you'll have to submit a perfect persona sheet. This is a sheet that has no errors in Pern canon or Triad canon, and is logical, spell checked, and well thought out. Second, you'll need approval of the Triad Council. Third, you'll need approval of the Level One Ranker in charge of the area your persona will be. If you have any questions, you can e-mail the Triad Weyrs Council. Level One Rank is almost never considered for new members, and Level Two rank may require a writing sample.

If you happen so see any places in the FAQ in which I missed changing the policy, please let me know!

As I said, this will probably have very little effect on you, but we wanted to let you know about the update in the FAQ.

And of course, if you have something you would like to add to the FAQ, all submissions added to the site will net you an extra 25 member reward marks!

Keep your eyes open for more announcements soon!
