Hello Triadians!

We have seen that it is Spring and love is in the air at Triad (or at least a whole lot of lust!) so we thought now would be a good time to remind our members of Triad's PG-17 policy!

The FAQ states:

QuoteThe Basic Rules of Intimacy in Posts

1. No mentioning of parts covered by a standard pair of Terran underpants. You can _imply_ all day long, but don't give _details_. Ask for an example post if you are unsure of the limits.

2. Anything above the waist is fine, but try not to overdo it.

3. The actual act of intercourse may not take place in the post.

4. Nudity and descriptions of it (barring parts mentioned in #1) are allowed, particularly at the Weyrs. This is Pern, not Earth, and weyrfolk bathe in public bathing rooms, after all.

5. Think American Soap Opera - they get pretty detailed, but always draw the line at actual sex.

6. Rape does unfortunately happen in a female repressive scenario. Please gain the approval of your local Level One ranker. The rape scene MUST follow the above rules, and contain the additional heading of NC-17. It doesn't prevent our younger readers from reading it, but it also alerts anyone that such a post contains very upsetting subject matter.

To paraphrase a founding member who helped craft the policy, write to develop two characters who are exploring each other mentally, emotionally, and physically, not simply for the sake of eroticism.

It also warns:

QuoteViolations of the PG-17 rules (including failure to label) will result in the following:

1st Offense: Written reminder of the policy.
2nd Offense: Written warning.
3rd Offense: Council supervised disciplinary mentorship.
4th Offense: Expulsion from club.

Should the Council deem it necessary, stricter penalties may be enforced when a serious violation has occured.

Please keep all this in mind while you are writing your posts.  The Council will be reading all PG-17 posts very carefully and will take the approriet measures if we think you have over-stepped the boundaries laid out here.

Here are two posts that the Council felt were good examples of PG-17 posts that did not go over the line.

Now, that being said, we understand that some members might want to write posts with adult themes more freely.  We would like to take a poll to see how many member would like to see the "Adult List" reinstated.  For those who do not know or remember what that list was for, it was a list on which the PG-17 rules were a bit more lax.  Sexual intercourse did not need to be censored on that list, though there were still general rules of decency (such as absolutely no detailed accounts of child molestation or rape).  Basically it was a list to make you blush, but not to offend.  Those posts were not added to the website, though some members would send edited versions to the main list that fell within the PG-17 bounds.  So, please tell us if you would want to be part of such a list or not by aswering the poll.  After a couple weeks, the Council will look at the numbers and decide if there is enough interest or not in reinstating the list.

Please let us know if you have any questions reguarding the Adult List or the PG-17 policy (and especially ASK if you are not sure if your post is PG-17 or not!).

Thanks!

A member asked a very good question:  If the adult list is reinstated, would those posts count towards reqs?

The answer is no.  Only posts that are suitable to be added towards the site can count towards reqs, nor do they earn Member Rewards.  If the writer wants their post to count towards either, they will have to make a PG-17 version of the same post and send it to the general list.  The adult list itself is a seperate list entirely.

Thanks for the question!

Does anyone use this?  Am I missing any plots by not being part of this list?  There are certain members I don't see posting anymore and I wonder if everyone has migrated over to this one! lol

As far as I know, a list has been made, but nothing has come over it in some time.

If someone has been trying to use the list and was unable to do so, however, please let us know!
