The script was rewritten, with permission of the original creators, to remove the "unsatisfying" ambiguity of Sam's story in favor of a "mythological element" and "deeper mystery".

While not wanting to offend the American-folk because I know that most of you have passed your intelligent tv watching tests (you watch Dr Who, after all) but ...

What the heck were these people thinking?  They didn't get it, but they decided to make an American-ised version anyway?  Madness!

I 'acquired' the first one and gave up.  They'd lifted the script and just transplanted it to new York and it didn't work. Noit to mention making Annie a blonde!  

Besides, the whole point of the two series was that it was up for debate as to what exactly had happened to Sam.

I have, they actually aired it in finnish tv (the orginal one) but I never watched it. I rather watch Life.

Okay - I have to admit I'm rather partial to the original series as it was all filmed around where I live, but Paula, you have to try it, it's such a nostalgia trip back to the 1970's (even if the year is was set was the year before I was born I still find myself spotting things and grinning).
