Where are your personas from?

The 'OMG' thread got me thinking about the 'out of character' histories of our personas.  Some are brand-new-for-Triad, but some come from other places, being reworked slightly or seriously to fit in.

Here are mine:

Arateyka, journeywoman smith, RBW
 - existed as an NPC family member at Anchor's Fall

Jh'slaen, greenrider, RBW
 - existed as minor character at Anchor's Fall

K'hetah, Wingleader, DCW

 - brand-new for Triad

Lineal, captain of the Sungazer, SWE
 - brand-new for Triad (though his name came from a long-ago Pern Ridges project)

Odarian, apprentice healer, DCW
 - adopted here

Rahona, crewmember on the Sungazer, SWE
 - brand-new for Triad

R'haran, greenrider & Weyrharper, DFW
 - adopted here (I once wrote for his weyrmate, though, at Dragonsfall Weyr)

Rikka, journeywoman technician, AHH
 - adopted here

Swift, kitchen hand, DCW-DH
 - reworked from a similar character used briefly at Pern Ridges (same name, age, Dolphin Hall location, etc)

Tarehg, master dolphineer, DCW-DH
 - brand-new for Triad

Ylisahn, Headwoman, DCW
 - existed in both Pern Shadows and Anchor's Fall, slightly reworked for Triad (aged)

What about your personas?

Vix

Hartam started at Pern Ridges, moved to Pern Shadows and then Triad, went into retirement for several years and then came back.

Mahantan was one of the original Pern Shadows characters, moved to Triad, retired for a while, and then back after several years.

K'sper started at Dragonsfall, trasitioned to Triad, placed into stasis and then back.

I'll possibly bring back two of the NPCs that I use occasionally: D'veck and B'jan were both created for Pern Shadows but moved to Triad and then were set aside.

Of my other characters, Nikanna and Benaran were adopted here and the rest were created here within the last 13 months.

Kaysea

Causton, Hallmaster, Vintner Hall
Newly created for Triad this time around.

Fog, Riverboat Crew, Elsewhere on Pern
Newly created for Triad this time around.

J'gen, Wingrider, Slate Wing, Dragonsfall Weyr
Old Pern Shadows persona reworked for Triad.

Kaldyn, Hold Resident, Amber Hills Hold
Old Star Lake Weyr persona - Lord Holder there and then reworked for the brand new Triad as Amethyst Cliff Lord Holder Caladyn. Name  was retained, but he was aged and demoted to a farmer this time around.

Kateena, Senior Journeyman Dolphineer, Dolphin Hall
Originally used as a Dolphineer at Pern Shadows, then moved across to Golden Gate Weyr, and then back to Triad again.  She's actually named after my second daughter Aimee, Kateena is aboriginal for beautiful.

Misara, Senior Journeyman Vintner, Vintner Hall
Newly created for Triad this time around.

Royani, Hold Resident, Amber Hills Hold
Adopted persona - very newly adopted (thanks Bree!)

Taia, Senior Journeyman Beasthealer, Dragonsfall Weyr
Newly created for Triad this time around.

Tayette, Hall Resident, Vintner Hall
Newly created for Triad this time around.

Treya, Wingrider, Rapids Wing, River Bluff Weyr
Newly created for Triad this time around.  And she needs to go ditsy again!!!

I don't know why but I seemed to have a thing about T names when I first came back.  All three girls were created very close together but for very different reasons.

Taia coz I loved the name my neighbour gave her new daughter.  Though she spelt it Taya.  Treya came about because Jane needed a mating flight stalker for R'harne and I loved writing her, so she became a new PC.  And Tayette - a reworked name for Hartam's old Pern Shadows girlfriend Minette.

I have loved Hartam since Vickie and I first started coposting the pair back in late 1999 and when she resurrected him here, I didn't give her a chance, I created Tayette and voila.  Though she's poles apart from who Minette was.

Sorry I waffled on a bit there.  But you know, I'm prone to do that. LOL

Might you have been hanging around with me?

This from my signature block:

Tarehg, master dolphineer, DCW-DH
Teene, foster-mother, AHH-VH
Tellen (ONPC), Weyr resident, DFW
Tey (ONPC), weyrling greenrider, RBW
Teykara (ONPC), greenrider, RBW
Tibby (ONPC), Weyr resident, DFW
T'kanu (ONPC), brownrider, RBW

Kaysea

LOL I doubt that's the reason, but it'd make a good excuse. *G*

It's like the K's as well I have a couple of those as PC and a few more as NPC's.  Its a case of: when you find a good initial you stick to it.

Kitali was a character I had when I came to Triad. I can't remember if I adopted her or created her, but I like her.  I think I adopted her.

Eliste was one I created for Triad, but I got the idea for her from a book I read a couple of months ago.  It was a sad story in the book and I adapted it for her history.  There are some major changes, of course.  Her husband is still alive for one thing. :-D

Oops, meant to put this in the other reply.

Kaysea, I seem to have a thing for names that end in E this time around (Emma will know what I mean).  I created another character at another weyr I just recently joined whose name ends in Iste.  Go figure.  My mind must be tired of trying to come up with something original!

Yvonne

Heh - how'd I miss this thread?

Firsa, Journeywoman Beastcrafter, DFW
I don't write her nearly as often as I'd like to. She's such a loner, though, that it can be hard... anyway, Firsa was one of the first pbem characters I ever created, back when I was 14 or 15 years old. She was originally a sort of fire elemental, and has since evolved into a courier of sorts. She keeps cropping up in my writing.

Harki, greenrider at DFW
Harki started out as an NPC that picked on one of my PC's, a rather meek greenrider named Jarri. Harki developed more of a personality than poor Jarri ever did, and so Jarri was retired and Harki took her place.

The rest don't really have interesting creation stories, though, and for the most part are Triad-specific.

Let's see, Aileyan must be my oldest still existing sona. She was created to one of the Triad's parent club. Most of my sonas were created specially for Triad.

I do have two non-pern, non-triad characters which I would like to bring to Triad, if I only could figure out how.... one is shape-shifting witch-hunter and other is immortal elven archmage with silver hair. Can you see the canon issues?

Way back in the day there was this thing called the Mercedes Lackey Mailing List (MLML) who had a spin-off RP group called, 'Mage Wars'. Most of the characters were mages or shapeshifting cat-people or gryphons or somesuch, but I busted into the scene with a pair of elemental 'guardians' who had at one time been human, but now were definately not. There were 4 in total, but the two men rarely made an appearance. My elementals were my first characters ever, too, so they were a little on the all-powerful Mary Sue side. :) I'm sure that there are a few old MLML'ers kicking around who remember it.

That's not the weirdest character I ever played, though. My oddest (and one of my favs) was a soul-sucking, asexual, gaseous shapeshifting creature that wasn't so much sociopathic as a predator with no real concept of humanity. It had an honest desire to learn and understand, but really... it was a soul-sucking, asexual, amorphous bit of floating gas. There's really not much in common. And as much as I'd love to bring Yxah back in some form or another ('scuse the pun), it sure won't be in this game!

Amanda N

How very interesting.  I had a character once that was normally just a bit of light.  Her language was music.  Her kind had notes for names.  I think I named her Caeda - all notes found in the music scale.

Another character I had was a combination cat/woman/hawk.  I actually originally wrote her for a Gargoyles fanfiction, but brought her over to a pbem based in an original fantasy setting.  I also used her in another game that was inspired by Pern.  There, she was created by a sorceror who had a bit of an accident with a spell. :-D  I called her Kittyhawk.  She was a great character, imo. :)

Speaking for the PA team, Paula, I think we could accomodate you on the silver hair...  As long as it wasn't made OF silver...

;)

Amanda N

Hey, I have silver hair. Seriously.  They shine way too much to be called 'grey'.  :)
