An Oldie But A Goodie

Ok, here's a common "What if" question that might prove interesting...

Let's say your home is burning.  You have time to save only three things out of it before its too dangerous to stay.  Let's also assume that all pets and people already have made it out, and that you have incredible mystical insurance from the most benevolant company ever which would replace all your appliances and whatnot (like TV, computer, furniture) for free.  What three things are irreplaceable?  What three things would you save?

So, for me:

1) My pictures - I have lots of pictures from my college days until now here, and my heart would break if I lost those.

2) My grandmothers rosary - My mom made it for her and carried it in her wedding since my grandmother couldn't be there on the day, and grandma kept it until the day she died and then it went to me.

3) My Seahawks jersey - I had always wanted one.  My Mom and I used to watch the games together every Sunday and cheered them on, in their good years and their bad years.  It was our special thing.  Christmas 2006 when I went back to Seattle I timed my flight SPECIFICALLY so that I could go to a Seahawks game the day I got back in the new stadium that I could never afford to go to before I left.  My best friend from high school and I went together and it was such a special memory, we had so much fun she and I, and the one souviner I had to get was a #12 fan jersey.

1. The three letters my granny wrote to my great-grandmother (and vice versa) from the 1920's when my grandmother was on holiday somewhere in England, and my granny was home in Scotland nursing a monkey bite on her leg. (?!)

2. My pictures. I've got several albums worth of photos that are, to me, irreplacable.

3. The little butterfly print that Nici gave me before she died.

Although I'd still want to save my laptop. It might be insured, but the stories saved on it aren't!

1) My books!  They are my security blanket..of a sort.  LOL.  I know I'm crazy.  

2) My photo album, which has pictures of my missions trip to Scotland and pictures of my neice when she was a baby.  

3) My Journal.

2. My safe (it's small but it has family heirlooms, bank stuff, and things like that).

3. Matt's TV. We could get away with carrying it out of the house. The thing is pretty light, not to mention the fact that we paid an arm and a leg on it, and I am not going to stand back and watch it go up in flames

I'm surrounded by "stuff" that I really wouldn't want to give up.

I had three things here, but realized that I had not read the instructions correctly so I now need to give it more thought before replying.

1. My computer.  Forget the monitor, I just want the actual PC.  It has my pictures and writings and things on it.  I mostly would want to save my pictures, though.

2. The fabric I have that is out of print and I can't buy anymore.

3. The quilts I have made.

You're of Cuban descent?  I went to Cuba the summer after my Junior year in high school.  My church had a sister church down there.

My family immigrated a year before Castro took over Cuba, and my father was the first generation born in America. I'm the second generation. I've never been to Cuba, though I really do want to go. Maybe after Raul finally passes I will go.

They couldn't even say Castro's name for fear of getting arrested.  Instead, they would make a hand gesture that looked like someone was stroking a beard.  That's how they would indicate they were talking about it.

It was really sad what I saw there.  We weren't tourists, so we saw the real side of Cuba.  Yeah, hopefully he won't last long.

Raul is actually worse than Castro. When I spoke to my Abuelo, he told me about how Raul would bury men alive for the fun of it. The guy enjoys killing just for the fun of it, he's really messed up.

Yeah, I've heard that he's even worse.  I'm really wishing that something would be done about that family.  I know that Castro's daughter defected.  That says something right there.
