How Did You Spend Your Saturday?

Since the forums have been deathly quiet all day I can only assume you all had a busy, enjoyable Saturday doing something else.  What was it?

Me, I sat here cuddling new kitten, Sam.  Exciting, huh?

I saw "The Bourne Ultimatum" with my family and went out to dinner to the Cheesecake Factory    The movie was excellent--and the dinner too, of course

I went to a festival in a nearby village, then went to a party with my friend's English class, and then went out to Karaoke.

I went to my friend's boss's house to walk her dog and feed her cats and water her plants in the morning, then I went to see the Simpons movie in the afternoon and in the evening, I went back to the house to walk the dog and so on for the night. In between those three things I drove around or sat around watching tv. lol

I left here at noon on Friday, helping my friend/flatmate Donna take her daughter Chenoa to boarding school.
Friday was "pre-enrollment." We were told to be there at 2:00 and that the school had arranged motel rooms for everyone. With that in mind, we figured an afternoon/evening of activities, right? Wrong. We signed in, went over Chen's medical records and paperwork, and were finished at 2:25 and on our own. We stopped at my parents' house, they weren't there, so we tracked them to my sister's house where Chenoa could play Wii with my nephew. Arrived at the motel at 4:00 -- to find that they did not have us on the list. This took about half an hour to sort out, finally they gave a tiny room, so I decided that I'd stay at my parents' house (no a/c, 95F temp) and pick up Donna and Chen in the morning. We went out for supper with my parents and then to see the Simpsons Movie.

Saturday I picked up Donna and Chen at the motel and drove to the school, where all we needed to do (supposedly) was show our Fast Pass and move on. No such luck -- they had a long line for the people who had been there the previous day. When we finally got out of this mess, we were ushered outdoors (again, 95F temp) and told to visit the activity tables. There were about a dozen tables, all arranged quite far from each other, involving walk, heat, blinding sunlight, thirst, etc. We then had a group meeting, packed into small rooms, for each division of the school. While ours was informative, it was difficult to hear over the people arriving late, carrying on personal conversations (loudly!), and then deciding to leave early. Afterwards, lunch -- a very disorganized affair with school officials just smiling, waving an arm, and saying "get in one of those lines" -- where the lines were haphazard and leading the wrong way, overlapping, etc. After lunch, we met Chen's housefather (he was late, she was the only one arriving for that house -- much stress to her), then were driven on a tour to see the new middle school building (referred to as "the Castle on the Hill" -- truly a fantastic school and Chen will be among the first to attend it), to her new house, where she met housemother and 4 of the girls who will be living with her this year. After about an hour there, back to administrative part of campus, and then Donna and I headed for home. It was a rather stressful and tiring weekend!

From 7am until 6pm I was at the FedExForum setting up the Justin Timberlake show.

Usually load-ins only last about six or seven hours, but:

A- they have been off the road for a few months;
B- the equipment was poorly packed at the end of the Europen leg;
C- the company that reconditioned the lights mixed them up big time, and;
D- it is a BIG show

There are chairs right up against the stage, simulating a bar.  They are flat slabs of metal, horrifically uncomfortable, cost $600 a pop, and you still have to pay for any drinks you order.

And, amazingly enough they are all sold out.

I went to a friends house for the day.  they have AC and a pool and it was at least 90 degrees Fahrenheit here yesterday so I was glad for the reprieve.  I ended up cooking breakfast for lunch and watching anime on the computer.  After we swam for like four hours though.  We were all pruny. xD

I spent most of the morning suffering because I was hungover :( and then went to a wedding in the afternoon/evening and daced my fool head off. Tylenol and tea will do wonders, I tell ya!

hmm, hubby woke me up early then we watched tv for a few hours.  Finally got up and showered and went into town to run some errands (autozone to get oil and supplies to change the hubby's car's oil) and came home, made some dinner.  I got reallly, REALLY drunk last night and i'm finally up this morning.  weeeee, not overly busy/exciting, just lazy.

Yesterday, let's see.....I worked for part of the day then I spent the rest of the day celebrating my new job with my family and friends. I have enough stuff to last me quite awhile and there are still packages coming from those who couldn't make the party.

I'm tired and have to work tomorrow. Only one week left before I start new teacher orientation.
