The Soundtrack of Our Lives...

So I was cleaning house today and I was going through my CDs for music to put on while I worked and I grabbed some of my old standbys to throw on, and I started to wonder, what are some of all of your favorite albums?  The ones that you can throw on any time and you never get tired of it.  Ones that maybe you put on when you're down and they always get you to feel right.  Or the ones you just always enjoy.

For me, I would have to say they would be Jars of Clays self-titled album and REMs "Automatic for the People".  I have a lot of other ones I love, but those two I can put on any time and never get tired of them.  In fact, I listened to "Automatic for the People" every day for six months while my friends and I played pool in the dorm my first year at uni.

I think like just about any American my age I am forever devoted to Sublime. They are definately classic... you can put them on at a party and pretty much be assured that almost everyone will know who they are and be able to sing along to at least a few of their songs. (When I did study abroad my friend Molly and I had this habit of stopping mid-conversation to sing "Rivers of Babalon" whenever it came on our mix)

I also love John Mayer. When I was a total stress-mess my first year of college I listened to him all the time because it would mellow me out! I also had a CD of his that I put on every night when I was going to sleep, because if it was on it would sooth me into sleep, but if it wasn't I would end up thinking about my stressful waitressing job all night long! (Thankfully, I am no longer a stressed out person!)

I also like Jack Johnson. His older CDs are awesome... though I think I am the only person in existance who didn't like his Curious George CD. I bought it because I was SURE I would like it... and I don't listen to it ever because I don't!

Gah! Music! It's one of my most favourite topics, ever. :P Did I mention that I'm going to Coachella? *g*

The CDs that I've had for years and will never throw away.... hmmm. The 'Empire Records' soundtrack is a winner, as is 'August and Everything After' by the Counting Crows. I like 'Everybody Else is Doing It So Why Can't We?' by the cranberries, and 'What's the Story (Morning Glory?)' by Oasis.

My recent fav. albums (I still buy albums because in my case, pc stands for Piece of Crap) include Champion's 'Chill 'Em All' and St. Germain's self titled cd, the Decemberist's 'Crane Wife'. And I just bought Peter Bjorn & John's new cd, 'The Wall' which I am enjoying muchly.

Well at least I know that at 4.25pm this afternoon you were ok.  I'm assuming and hoping you're still okay now, and that the earthquake didn't make your CD collection crash to the ground???

I can put on any They Might Be Giants or MXPX cd at any time and always feel better.  And I can sing along too! :D

Thanks for worrying about me :D  I'm on the southern island, so it was too far away from me to even feel.   Our island had our last big quake a year ago.  Which worries me because we were averaging one quake big enough to feel every two months until then, and then nothing for the last 10 months...  It's kinda like waiting for the shoe to drop...

Those make up about 75% of my collection. I also like:

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
3 Days Grace
My Chemical Romance
Panic At The Disco
The Jonas Brothers
Plain White T's
As well as a few sundry Movie Soundtracks that I liked
and a bunch of other one off songs that I download off limewire because I heard them on a commercial or TV show and wanted them.

And thats it.
