Should I be nervous?

I have been pulled off the phones for a while (a month at least, probably more) for a special project as we try to get our vendor up to speed.

A group of Senior Support techs from the various projects are set up in the War Room, along with Vendor Managers, Project Managers and a couple of VP.  We each have a laptop and a blackberry.

Anyway, the lady in charge of this project was going around the room getting the names of the techs so she knew who in the chat room was a vendor, and who was FedEx.

As we are introducing ourselves, she acknowledged each: Nice to meet you Randy, thank you for helping out Greg, glad to meet you Rich.  OH!  You're Mike Grillo.

Should I be nervous?

Of course you should be nervous.

Realistically though -- is this person from your company or another? That would make a difference.

From in house.

I am thinking this MAY go back to the issue last week, where I am percieved as rude by the vendor agents because I expected them to be doing their jobs.

Nah -- probably b/c as in-house your name had been one heard now and then but no face to put to it. The more remote members of this new team are completely new and she was probably rather relieved to have someone even halfway familiar.

Little ole' me?

I'm just your standard tech.

Who laughs too loud, has a fish tank on his desk, and train set on his file cabinet, transformers on the bookshelf and dwarves and mounted knight figures guarding the whole lot.

OK, maybe my name has passed beyond my cube.

Theres just a chance it may have.  Though I don't see why your worried.  At least you aren't like my friend who has My Little Ponies coexisting with raptors on her desk.

Now I can't get the image of my son's dinosaur-figurine (about inch height) attacking my daughter's My little pony (ten times larger) out of my head!

My office has an empty desk and upon it is a 2-foot high porcelain doll whose wings look like they came from Victoria's Secret. Currently she is wearing over-sized shamrock-shaped sunglassses and a party hat and in front of her is a keyboard and an audience of stuffed animals -- all in honor of Elton John's birthday.

I have two plastic skeletons taped to my monitor and little plastic Star Wars figurines on my PC's tower. I've got Homies on there too. A large poster of The Simpsons behind me and a lamp on the file cabinet next to me with the shade screwed on upside down.
