Chat Room Etiquette

I'd like to post a few reminders about chat room etiquette, now that we have a shiny new chat room on the server! The chat room is there for everyone to enjoy, so let's follow a few common sense rules to make sure that happens!

There are three main topics that almost always are guaranteed to make someone uncomfortable.  Because of this, we'd like you to consider the following topics off-limits:

1)Sex
2)Religion
3)Politics

I believe that we can all carry on quite a multitude of conversations without venturing into that dangerous territory! Now obviously common sense should be applied to this. Plotting a copost about Weyr politics or a mating flight is not the sort of thing we're talking about here, and I'm sure you all understand that.

Just remember that we are a large group of people with a wide range of ages who have grown up in a variety of places! When in doubt, err on the side of caution.

Thank you, all!

One more reminder, folks. I thought this would be obvious to everyone, but perhaps it isn't... ;)

When you log in, you get to see the last 20 or so lines of the chatroom. I know everyone sees it, but I think you might be forgetting the implication... which is that everyone sees it. Even when it's just you and someone else in the chatroom, and you leave. Whoever comes in next is going to see what you were saying.

This is not your private IMs, folks. This chat data is stored on my server, and I have to review it from time to time to make sure we're not violating my TOS. I'm thinking perhaps not everyone is taking that into account when they chat.

So don't say anything in the chatroom that you wouldn't want to share with the club at large, please!

I don't like to be the meanie, but I will do it.

Which brings me to my last topic: one more thing that should not be discussed in the chat room. And that is Club History.

It's the internet. Every game, list or club that has ever existed in the history of the internet has had its bumps, its problems, and its drama. We are certainly no exception!

However, under the new and (mostly) benevolant rule of the Council, we have put into place one rule that we will not bend, and will enforce quite, quite firmly. And that is: everyone deserves a fresh start.

I don't want to see rehashing of past problems on this forum or in the chatroom. I don't want to see gossip, stories, or anything of the sort. This club is what it is because of the people who have come before... all of them and for all of its problems, it has done a great job. Which means they have done a great job.

Returning members, please consider this a reminder that things may not be as they were the last time you were here.
