Divorce?

OUt a year ago (RL) Artias's wife let him to live in the Weyr, would Artias be able to remarry and in EFH would anyone care?

As Artias is a Steward (and was at the time of his marriage) he would almost certainly have had it officially recorded by a Harper. So, I would think he would have to have the first marriage ended - in EFH, that would be by decree of the Lord Holder - before he could marry again.

What if he decided to marry again without getting his first marriage ended? At EFH, I don't think it would necessarily be treated as a serious crime. However, if the family of Artias' second wife were important, they might make a fuss since the second wife would effectively be Artias' mistress, not his wife. More than one wife is not allowed at EFH since the downfall of Cazriel, and Enrizial is prepared to be strict about this. Besides, he values honesty in a Steward, so Artias could probably expect to lose his job.

So he'd have to ask Enrizial, who would certainly be sympathetic. I doubt it would be the first marriage he had ended on the grounds that the wife had run off to the Weyr!

LOL thanks. Of course how upset would Enrizial be if he knew why Marti ran off to the Weyr?
