At the Tavern, would Pernese tip a waitress?

I doubt it.  Your average pernese isn't going to carry around a lot of marks.  They're still more of a barter system, and I imagine run tabs at the Tavern that they pay off in goods as often as marks (aka piglets, grain, various food items, clothing and/or material, etc).

I forget which novel, but I think it was the Harper trilogy, where one of the characters hadn't really seen marks before?

Thank you.  I was rather iffy about it *rushes off to make changes in a post**
