I am just getting my feet wet again and I am beyond excited

currently I have a bluerider at DFW who is in need of posts
he will be moving to DCW, more details below


Then, my plans for when I get off mentorship is to adapt over a bronzerider I used to play
parts of this plan have already been discussed with Heather, Devin, Halyonix, Sia and Corrin. Pretty sure I have dropped ideas publicly too.

But in short he is going to have some flashbacks to flesh out; not to mention a history and current threads with healers from everywhere!! Rehab has him back and forth from DFW and AHH:HH; then planning to move to DCW and being under healer/ weyrleader scrutiny for months; yes... IRL months!!

So if anyone has healers, past, present or future who want a change to poke a begrudging but hospitable rider, hit me up. Apprentices included as it could be a good chance to get hands on with a rider for the first time. Especially outside of the chaos of Fall. Also across locations!! DFW, AHH:HH, DCW!!

and my bluerider will be going along for the ride because of their friendship. They are joined at the hip at times so, be warmed signing up for a Ty'dis plot might have an Az'uka thrown in your face

currently I plan the move to DCW in like Dec/Jan

@Sia, I have been annoying Devin since last night my time, back and forth with some plots. Nothing is set in stone/hide yet. I just have a huge nostalgia to revisit these characters and some of their more defining moments and while I can certainly get that out in a word doc in my spare time the chance to see where a more canon world would take them is amazing too

I have been doing some reading about the possibility too, and I even found the original surgeon notes when I first wrote it a few yrs ago as the guy RPing the healer in question had been a surgeon.

regardless... most likely if I keep the full blow injury and have him return to the wings it would be lower altitude wings and on shift work like a blue or green rider

my big issue is one of adaption. I have been in semi canon so long mary sue has a magic wand

currently in the process of adapting to the fact that a bronzerider is an L4 ranker and I can't so that right off the bat, so trying to shuffle my semi canon life over here continues as I will have to change the dynamic between my riders somewhat.

 

OH MY GOWD
there are not words for how excited I am. I have not RPed Pern since late 09 and the fall of invisionfree and all the semi-canon sites I used to be in/running. I have Mary-Sued the crap out of many a situation and lets not even talk about the drama. Coming back to triad is me trying to find the joy in Pern again (I last tried, I 09 and apparently fell off the planet); this time my riders in my head are talking up a storm. So much so I have already started a post for them at the tune of 2000 words if anyone wants a sneaky peak.

There are details I am working on hashing out with both my new Weyrleader and the Council coming from semi canon changes MUCH

Little question for everyone here, how often to riders move from Weyr to Weyr. If I move my bluerider this will be his like... 4th Weyr change. Far island > DFW > WIW (which I assume is like Ista in that all the injured retirees go there for rehab > DCW

Reasons behind this I am trying to bring my bronzerider (Az'uka, my bluerider's best friend) and I am trying to Canonize the injury that would have tossed Tay'ds from Weyr to Weyr - Az just followed. Other issues here being that in semi-canon Pern Tay is technically missing a lung (Bad bad scoring). I have done some reading on such a wound and it is possible to live a normal life, BUT with less stamina. Meaning if he was cleared to fly fall it would be lower altitudes and mostly likely in shifts like blue and green riders (something I haven't done in yrs playing semi-canon... everyone there flies the whole fall and barely lives because of every writer wanting to injure someone; only to be magically better next Fall because Mary-sue is a plague). These are all things I would have to hash out with my Weyrleader and the council. Also things I am somewhat flexible on. I mean I might change it to just bad chest scouring if it means Tay might end up wing leading again, I dunno, depends what my Weyrleader needs and is willing to put up with.


*Puts Az in a box* You we are not talking about, while your existence doesn't break cannon you too often see it as a challenge and you have given every leader who has ever dealt with you a headache.

But happy for thoughts and inputs.

Especially on how to make these two riders just appear out of nowhere since I am basically having to account for 9ish turns of him being 'absent' or EOP or just in the background. its always hard to try and work out what other players are willing to 'accept' as being plausible. Sure a bluerider being obscure for 9 turns works... but an injured ass bronzerider that appeared out of nowhere? maybe not so much.

The dragon and wher bases for the pixels are from Khiiten on dA and are free to use, provided credit is given (although her original bases were restricted to certain Weyrs)

More than likely Cali *wracks brain to recall which ones* I know his sister (Jenasie) was a Dolphineer at DCW-DH so he was around, his main post down there was the Fishing for Love set when he got mistaken for Jen's other lover...

I think he was also indirectly involved with Mosler's son running away to the Weyr... or at least Jen was... >.>;; gezz... that was so long ago *flail*

If you look at the specialties listed in the faq, you'll find specialists in individual animals. I think you could lump breeders in with them (for example, someone who specializes in runners most likely is also involved in breeding them)

but he would not have been Searched by a dragon if it was a pre-existing condition and he would have had to have hidden his disability from everyone in order to be allowed to stand.

Are you asking as far dragonriders? Dragonriders and candidates are not allowed runners as pets just because of the time it would take to care for them would take away from more important obligations. For everyone else, they are allowed to have runners as pets as long as it makes sense (someone on a boat, for example, couldn't really have one). I think how many a persona might be involved in varies from place to place and their position. If you have a specific question about that, please let me know.

As for the runners Ry is only really going to be working with them until he gets Searched *makes note to annoy Search riders when profile is finished* So they'll be more like NPCs than pets, but I'll profile them up for the time they'll be around.

They can either purchase them or find them, but the member has to use their member rewards (if that doesn't make sense, please let me know!)

Well, I think a firelizard could perhaps TRY to approximate the sound of a runner, but they just wouldn't have the vocal chords we have. It would be like trying to get a bird to sound like a horse. They could make their own interpretation of what a horse sounds like, but it would still sound nothing like a real horse, if that makes sense. As far as what he looks like that should be fine.

Awesome, sounds perfectly reasonable (although I'd just like to say - lyrebird for a laugh). Truth be told though I don't think a flitter would have the same range as a lyrebird. Mainly because of the other sounds they make, crooning, rumbles and bellows in some cases... too deep to get the pitch up...

[Breeder:]

Heyas; some quick questions that relate directly to the character profile I'm currently working on; and to Triad's way of running things as some other Weyrs seem to blur the lines a little.

Breeder: I had a look over the list of craft specialities and couldn't find any reference to any kind of beast breeder (could have missed it though). I can't remember if the books mention that speciality directly, but I remember talk of breeding runnerbeasts in Moreta. So would breeder be a speciality here?

NPC Masters: Rydamere is traditionally related to a Master Breeder (of Runners) – is something like this possible in Triad?

I know that an NPC figure is allowed to appear rarely and I can only think of one instance where Ryenoir might turn up... but that could be months down the track and only if certain things happen.

Allergies Considering we're post 9 th pass is there more possibilities of allergies? The reason I ask is because I'm debating making Ry allergic to numbweed... >.>;; not sure if this is possible though I haven't seen anything written on it before

Disabilities I hope to run Rydamere as a candidate... and I remember that able bodied candidates are preferred (lol excuse my political correctness – I work with disabled kids). Would a candidate who is deaf in one ear (his right) be allowed to stand? And no I'm not talking partly deaf, but completely deaf in his right ear.

Honorific With candidates do we get to put in a preferred honorific for their name should they Impress? Such as Rydamere would become R'mere. Or is that chosen by the L1 or queenrider in charge of the clutch? Answered by Becki!

Runnerbeasts I know certain people are allowed them as pets, however temporarily. My question is how many might be found in the company of someone who works them for a craft?

Firelizards What are the so called rules about finding them? (other than the fact bronzes and golds are restricted) Does one just write them into a 'sona's history or can they find an egg on a beach when they are travelling? Or should they request one from a clutch at a Hold or Weyr?

Dziban Dzi is a firelizard I have written before; he's a pretty average blue... light-ish in tone... with a darker graze on his back... and wings that are rather broad at the base where they join his back. He also thinks he is a runnerbeast and will produce the sounds they make (I figured that if I could neigh like a horse then Dzi could to). What kind of restrictions would be considered here? Would Dzi and his quirkiness be tolerated or would he be too uncannon?[/list]

I will admit I'm rather glad to go back on mentorship given how long its been and how much I have prolly forgotten...
I shifted my characters to inactive the other day because I'm not sure if I'll use Jen and Az again (as much as I love Az his profile is seriously all wrong for him now... he's not that tall... I must have been on Mary sue drugs when I came up with that... *fail*)

Although I have gathered a few more characters I'd like to try out here... some candidates, some riders (I'm assuming you still need L1 permission to bring in browns and above) and some handlers (do you guys have wher handlers at all?)


So yus... lots of questions... and lots of time to reacquaint myself with the FAQ section ... >.>;; because I forget things...


I look forward to RPing with you all again; oh quick question while I'm here, what kind of restrictions are there on NPC Master crafters? The reason I ask is because one of my candidate's has a Master Runnerbeast breeder for a father... but can be tweaked ^^ just curious right now
