Tansy
Flowers: clusters of flat, mustard yellow flowers heads in summer
Height: grows up to 120cm
Healer use: Stems, leaves, and flowers are used in poultices for bruises, rheumatism, and varicose veins. The leaves are used in stimulating and astrigent baths for mature and sallow skin. Do not use during pregnancy. A tonic brewed from tansy relieves heart palpitations, but must be used with extreme care. May cause poisoning if taken internally!
Cooking use: Leaves are rubbed on meats for flavoring.
Other uses: Leaves are a powerful insect repellant. Boil flowers for a golden yellow dye, the leaves for a yellow-green woolen dye.
