Mugwort
Leaves: alternate leaf stems with brankching leaflets that are down white on the underside, linear and coarsely toothed
Flowers: flower heads are spiked and reddish brown or yellow
Stems: stems are downy and slightly grooved
Harvest: flowering tops in late summer when in full bloom
Dangers: Avoid while prenant or nursing as this herb may cause fetal abnormalities.
Healer use: Mugwort is used as a moth repellent, aromatic, for headaches, earaches, menopause and menstrual pain. The aerial parts are used for worms or other parasites, hepatitis, jaundice, and poor digestion. It is a digestive and uterine stimulant. It is also used for anxiety, insomnia, and gall bladder problems. Burned, the ash can be used topically for bleeding.
