Nutritional Needs of the Goose
Water
Clean, fresh water must be available at all times. The use of a fountain is recommended to avoid spilling and to keep water as clean as possible. In warmer weather, check water often throughout the day. For colder weather, try to keep water from freezing if you live in an area that has freezing temperatures.
Feed
It is recommended to mix cracked corn, oats, and wheat together for feeding geese. It is a good mixture and provides the avians with a variety and good source of nutrition in their diet. Geese generally self-regulate their food intake; however, it is noticed a goose is exceeding his/her normal weight, restrict the amount of feed per day.
Greens supply further variety in a goose's diet. Geese may also enjoy fruit treats; these are a great source of vitamins, but should be kept to a minimum.
Feeders
Choose a container that is heavy enough to avoid tipping and small enough to prevent geese from walking or standing in their feed, as this can lead to contamination by feces. Geese may like to get their food wet, so always supply fresh food on a daily basis, and discard old feed.
