Hi Triadians!

It's so great to see the club active again with all of these posts. Having the open timeline allowing the second half of Turn 10 and all of Turn 11 is a huge part of it. Being able to catch up on the Turn and a half of our persona's lives and storylines we've missed because of real life is nice. We're going to resume timeline progression eventually, so The Council is announcing in advance the dates for closing off time.

April 30: End of Turn 10 posting amnesty
July 30: End of Turn 11 posting amnesty

We look forward to seeing what you continue to post in these Turns while amnesty is running!

[Weyrlingmaster's Second]

Inspired by Heather offering the Rank Yard Sale, I thought I'd start an Open Rank Spotlight thread. There's a lot of open ranks on the site to pick through, but it's always fun to have an L1 or L2 specifically be recruiting for particular positions and promising immediate storylines, right? So I'll post my desired ranks to be filled in this thread, and then I'm hoping other L1/2s make their own posts in here!

All you need is to be off mentorship. This means they're open for existing members, and for those of you who are new and eagerly posting, you can get off it pretty soon. You get marks bonuses too!


BLW: Open Weyrlingmaster's Second role. We have a Weyrlingmaster and a Weyrlingmaster's Third for you to plot with, and a hatching Soon:tm:.

BLW: Queen's Wingthird! Whenever a queen is stuck on the hatching sands, another queenrider takes over as wingleader. Also, the queen's wing has a lot of transfers in and out as it gains injured or pregnant riders, and loses them back to the higher wings. There's a small core of permanent healthy riders attached to serve as stability; but since there's so much change, the wingsecond and wingthird are critical to keeping the wing up to date and fighting trained, even more so than in other wings. Want to come manage this chaos?

Hi folks! I just wanted to shout out to a site called Artbreeder. It lets you remix images together to adjust them so you can make visuals of people. You can start by uploading a photo and tweaking genes to change the hair and eye color and skin color. Or you can search through photos and find one to start riffing off of. Most awesomely, you can use crossbreed to merge two images together. You can adjust it to look more realistic or more art-like.

If you want images for a persona but you don't want to just use an image of a face claim actor without editing it, you can tweak it via this. If you have an image from another source like a video game, you can make it look more realistic. Or if you have no idea of a face claim in mind at all, you can use this to mix random images on there together to make someone totally new.

Here's 2 personas I created with it already, 1 is Kadira and 1 is a new persona that hasn't been submitted yet. One is from a video game character screenshot, one is from mixing faces already on Artbreeder together. I can talk about how I did these in more detail if people want to know.

Hi Triad!

Triad is a club with a long history that has been known for a close adherence to canon. This is what attracted our players here to write with us, and we want to remain close to Anne's world that we all fell in love with.  For 20 years of our history, we've always said "no female blueriders" because there was no support in Anne's canon. When Todd's books came out, we said we weren't going to change that.

Over the years, writers of the club and potential members have contacted us in person and in public about relaxing the restrictions on dragonrider sexuality and Impression options. Following your feedback, we introduced the options for new Candidates who are bisexual women to Impress to green dragons. After deep discussion in the council forums and taking the member opinions into consideration, the Council has decided on allowing women on blue dragons.

This is a large change in our canon and roleplay. We will have an FAQ up soon going over the rules and restrictions on making one. I'll post a link in this thread.

20 years is a long time for a club to be open. The world changes, both on Earth and on Pern. This is another step in making our Pern more diverse and opening up greater potential for new storylines.

Apologies for just dropping off the map without saying anything to anybody, but my life got completely busy for a bit! It's been crazy for all of us with the pandemic and all, I know. For me, that video game convention I run every year had to talk to our hosting hotel about shutting down the in-person con and moving it to next year at the hotel and negotiating contract cancellations and stuff...but we didn't want to break a 21-year event streak...so we decided to move the con online.

We figured we could use the online format to do Big Things, like host special guests we could never normally host at Mysterium because they lived too far to travel, etc. And we could host multiple panels at the same time, which we can't normally do because we're a smaller con with a single hotel ballroom, not with breakout spaces and multiple rooms like big ones like any of the ComicCons. So we put together a slate of attendees including Cyan founders Rand and Robyn Miller, soundtrack composers for the Myst series including Jack Wall and Tim Larkin and Marty O'Donnell, artists including Stephan Martiniere... People who not only worked on the Myst series, but who have worked for Disney theme parks, who've worked on games like Mass Effect and Halo, who've done work for Star Wars...

To contact all these people, get them to agree to show up to this online event, then to buy technology licenses, to set up how to stream out from Zoom to Twitch and Youtube simultaneously and plan to take all the comments from those chats and Discord, and feed them out to the panelists. And to plan to host casual hangouts and discussions after panels, to still make it feel like a community hangout convention. That's a lot of work.

We did it in 7 weeks.

We also hit the Twitch.com front page twice during the convention. We had almost 900 registered attendees and our biggest Twitch stream had 10,000 people.

So that has been one heck of a May-June-July for me, I have been sleeping heavily since last weekend when it happened, I have met some very famous people, it was an incredible success.

To rescue all of these plots and hopefully take our minds off of what's going on, the Council is announcing a Posting Amnesty period! We will open all of months 1 through 4 in Turn 10 for posting. Yes, that means you can post in months that closed earlier in the year and we'll still timeline those posts. This gives us all time to catch up on plots that fell by the wayside during LOAs. We'll give you a full month's notice before we close those months again.

Hi folks! I realized I haven't written a greenflight in months, so I'd like to throw out some descriptions of who's gonna have had flights recently. Let me know if you want in on one of these, and if you'd like, pitch me an idea for why one of your folks should win one of these! I would love to use this as an excuse to shake up some of my sonas lives, maybe they make a new friend from it, or fly a rival / someone they don't like, or have a hilariously awkward experience!


m12d14 - A'vel's Tsogath (DCW):
Tsogath has historically kept being caught by bronzes. Maybe you want to keep the trend going and have A'vel wind up with yet another bronzerider? Or maybe you want to pitch me a bluerider who might try to talk A'vel into seconds?


m12d20 -  Irrkali's Jeath (DCW):
Irrkali is a weyrlingmaster's assistant and a gorgeous older woman who hasn't even been at the weyr six months, which means she doesn't have a ton of connections to other people. Maybe you've got a char who might like to romance her and think a flight is the perfect sign they might work together? Maybe you want the comedy of a much younger rider winning? (Maybe even NPC a weyrling from the last class she did some training with for super awkwardness?)

Though Talwynn's weyrmated to D'kere at DFW right now, and Kenirath has recently won Riveth, that's not always a predictor for flights turning out the same way. Want to take a chance on winning this prickly greenrider and seeing how she sparks off your PC?

The Council is excited to let you know about a new plot we're setting up!

We'd like to unveil a cool new plotline that will span 2019. As those of you who have been here awhile know, we used to have 3 PC Weyrs.
We closed River Bluff Weyr two years ago because of a decline in posting volume, so we could consolidate personas in locations that were active and thriving. This set up a great set of storylines ICly which have had amazing repercussions throughout Triad. This year has started off with strong posting OOCly (over 100 posts in a single month!), and we've had a number of returning members. This seems like the perfect time to re-introduce a third Weyr to the club.

The Weyrs will get together and discuss setting up a replacement Weyr to eventually take back over at least some of the flight territories. They'll find a few candidate locations, pick one, and establish a Weyrhold there. This location will be in the old RBW flight area north of the mountains. At first, it will only be staffed with the workers constructing the location and a wing of dragonriders to provide insight into Weyr needs and transportation and the like. As construction moves on, it'll start filling out more, until eventually it's constructed enough to host enough riders to start flying Fall over its own lands, and then golds will be sent in and it will become a full Weyr in its own right.

We're hoping the club really enjoys this chance to craft a new Weyr location from the ground up, seeing it evolve from a temporary camp to a Weyrhold looking to a full Weyr as it's being constructed, up through flourishing into its own place as a full-fledged Weyr. There's a lot of IC potential for storylines here as the new place begins to grow and flourish with its own residents, as it begins its relationships with neighboring areas, as there may be struggles and setbacks in the construction.
