When Marlow woke up on the morning of The Choosing she never could have predicted that before the sun set she would go from a peasant, to the most powerful person in the Kingdom, to a rebel on the run.
Marlow and her father live in a two-room shanty in the small village of Pine Brook on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Anariel. On the day of The Choosing, the entire Kingdom gathers to crown the new Queen, who is believed to control the elemental magic in the land. To the shock of the High Priest, and the Grand Prince, Marlow finds herself being crowned the next Queen of Anariel.
The same night she is crowned, Marlow survives an attempt on her life and ends up on the run, leaving behind the palace and Pine Brook, the only home she has over known. The rogue Queen seeks refuge in a rebel camp known as the Wolf's Den.
Scorned by the rebels for being a "weak" Queen, and exiled from the Kingdom for being a "murderer", Marlow fits in nowhere. She must find a way to master the four elements of magic in order to return to the palace to save the Kingdom from the Grand Prince, who seeks to drain every last ounce of magic from the land.

I was mistaken, it's not a Prime thing, it's a Kindle thing. If you have Kindle Unlimited (or if you use a free Kindle Unlimited trial.)
Yep but as kindle books go (and I read lots of them) it's a really great price.

I just finished reading it and I'll give my brief review here. (I was on the bus, so no way to give review for Amazon).
I enjoyed the book, I've certainly red worse fantasy novels. The beginning felt bit rushed, you should have expanded it a bit. There was also times when I could have wanted more background information about the realm and the people. The plot was predictable and I could see the twist coming miles away but that didn't bother me at all because the story itself flowed so smoothly and was interesting (except the first chapters). Your strenght was the characters and the use of the language. You do love the word mahogany :). It was easy to read even for a non-englishspeaker. Even the antagonist was interesting and I would have loved to get more information of his background and motives.
The only real gripe I had with it was: It was too short! I want more!
Congratulations and well done, Heather, you kept me entertained while I communed to work.
