1) Due to being only four feet, ten inches tall, I technically qualify as someone with dwarfism. (Related: I'm only one inch taller than actress Linda Hunt, who's four-nine due to hypopituitary dwarfism.)
2) Thanks to hyperacusis, I can hear dog whistles (that's not hyperbole; I've been tested), and once realized my twin had left her radio turned on in her bedroom downstairs while I was upstairs in a diagonal position at least twenty feet away.
3) I'm not kidding when I say my characters speak to me; I've had voices that weren't mine pop up in my thoughts, and I can, most times, realize who's talking. Several of them have also made it clear about what they're supposed to be like, and have, once in a while, refused negotiations or compromises involving their creation. (And I don't have a mental condition that involves auditory hallucinations.)
4) I surprised a preschool teacher by knowing what a trapezoid was. I'm still not sure why. Did the other kids just not watch as much "Sesame Street" as me?
5) I'm a sensitive; I've had minor premonitions, an example of literal twin telepathy (we've been on the same wavelength several times, and she and I were once able to successfully project images to each other, but only once), several flashes of deja vu, moments of literally feeling others' pain (emotional and physical), impressions from stones, and flickers of animal communication. Similar incidents have happened to my big brother.
- I do not have perfect pitch but I have relative pitch. That means if you're singing I can hear if you're sharp or flat and it gives me twinges like nails on a chalk board.
- I stuck a fork in my eye when I was about 4. So the colors in my right eye don't look the same as in my left. Left was uninjured so I know what a blue sky should look like and with my right it shifts slightly green to a teal colored sky. I like teal. :)
- I have a memory for music that is unbelievable to some people. For instance. I've performed "The Messiah," 9 times and can sing the Soprano choral parts of the whole 4 hours completely by memory. (Plus a couple of the solos.)
- I am addicted to tacos. When I was pregnant, I would eat them for 3 meals a day.
- I have four children and parents of multiple children, you know you have favorites. I do too. They're all my favorite, just at different times.
- See #3, ditto computer software. Once I know how to do something in a software I don't forget how. I've become my co-workers encyclopedia if how to do stuff. Especially in Microsoft Office.
Some things are odd, some not so much.
Leigh, just for kicks read the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold. Start with The Warrior's Apprentice. The hero is about your height with brittle bones. But that doesn't keep Miles Vorkosigan down... not at all. There are other books before that but they're about his Mother and Father.
1. I have elf ears, like, they could cast me in Lord of the Rings and I wouldn't need much help in the make-up section for my ears. They don't curl at the top like most peoples, they're flat. I mostly keep them hidden beneath my hair because when I was a kid other children would ask me if I was one of "Santa's Helpers"
2. I have a photographic memory, if I can see it, I can remember it. Because of this, when I'm a student of something I always color code all of my notes in different colors, and then when it's test time I can remember details by recalling the colors in my mind.
3. When I'm playing a video game where you can design what your character looks like, it takes me a good 45min-1hr to create said character... and then usually within five minutes of the game I start all over because I have to be VERY satisfied with the way the character looks, even if they're going to spend the entire game hidden beneath armor and a helmet.
4. I cannot write for a persona in any game (only Pern at the moment) if I dislike the persona's name. I almost did not adopt K'lvin because of the "L" in his name, but I've learned to live with it. Paula graciously allowed me to change Runnfrida to Runnfreya :) For me a persona's name sets the tone for what kind of personality they're going to have... For instance, Saibra to me is a name for a sultry, spontaneous, spunky sort whereas Chaysea is the name for a solid, level-headed, hard working individual. Also the name must be "pronounceable" I hate names with a ton of weird letters that would never work together.
5. I'm an introvert (not that being one is odd) which makes teaching an interesting profession because I am constantly on display in front of students, fellow educators, administrators and parents. I love to teach, but when I'm not at work I like to be secluded at home around my husband, daughter, and animals.
Lol, I'm only feet longer than you are, Leigh and I consider myself short.
1. I have crossed eyes (latin: Strabismus) and as a result, I suffer from amblyopia. I can't see 3D-movies, 'cause I lack stereo vision/ depth vision. Makes driving a car interesting. And I keep dropping things and bumbing into furniture because things aren't really where I thought they would be. And my son inherited it.
2. I was very shy and quiet as a child. Still have mainly introvert personality-type.
3. Like Leigh, my characters talk to me...although sometimes I see it as written text (the problem is that I have to translate it to english) . I Have audio-visual memory, so I remember best things I've seen and heard. Some of my characters write themself and I get surprised by their reactions. I do have very active imagination and I usually have a stories running inside my brains...especially when I shouldn't have. (aka I'm daydreaming), right now, they're mostly Star Trek or werewolf-stories. Too bad I never seem to be able to write them down.
4. I'm tone deaf and I have horrible singing voice. I do enjoy music though...except Ozzy Osbourne's voice gives me headache. Some voices just seem to grate my nerves. I'm also slighly sensitive for smells and strong perfumes give me allergic reaction.
5. I have redhead genes and my daughter inherited those. But my hair isn't a red...it's kind of muddy brownish ash-blondish. ( I have a redhead's skin though, so no suntanning for me).
