I don't think many of us are having a good time right now. I know I'm not. So here is a giant blanket fort full of pillows, stuffed animals, warm drinks (or hooch) and comfort foods, where we can come share our troubles, and hopefully leave them here, even temporarily.

My twin has COPD. We're only thirty-three.
My littlest niece, my twin's youngest daughter, is in the hospital, dehydrated. She was throwing up a lot earlier this week, but she seemed to get better. But now, hospital.
One of our Dachshunds is going to need our vet to give her mercy soon.
I'm worried about so many of you because you're ill as well, and someone else I greatly like, respect, and admire -someone who's always been so kind to me- needs a kidney NOW, and I'm too fat and too medicated to even make an offer, even if I did know my blood type.

I had sinusitis and we had snow (about 1/2 - 1 inch).
Yeah, not really that big worries. I can always knit some more socks.
And there I was moaning about having to scrape Ice off my car on Tuesday... Although there has already been snow on the high ground, it's turned to rain. this is when I thank my lucky stars I live at the top of the valley after last year's flooding...

Emma, see if you can find some kind of aerosol spray that can help defrost windows; I use some from Walmart come Winter, and it's a big help. Anything that helps keep anyone safer out on the road is a good thing.
Oh I keep deicer in the car along with the rest of my winter kit from the middle of October. 1 large can deicer, 1 large can night before spray, two ice scrapers, 2 blankets, a shovel, newspapers,chamois leathers, chocolate and bottled water. Where I live, the hazard is more likely to be the car icing up rather than thick snow. It either rains heavily enough to cause major flooding, or the temperature drops to a point where it's too cold to snow here and it gets really slippery, which is why the newspaper, in case I need to get traction to move my little car.
It's raining now, but I'm indoors with a chicken dinner and the heating is on...
I could learn a few things about cold weather preparedness from you. :-)

I have a shovel... and while Manchester isn't as far north as Finland, it's comparable to Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. They think we're going to get a cold winter this year... I heard them mention -14c, I think that's around 5f...
I need the shovel because I live off the main roads, maybe once every 3 our 4 years I need to dig my way out, but if I take it out of the car....

Well, the winter did star early here too, it's now something like -6 C and light snowfall. Usually we get first snow in december and more permanent snow cover in January.
Me and my hubby keep nagging to the kids when they go to the car without proper outdoor-clothing. Yes, the car is heated but if something goes wrong they are going to freeze in thin leggings and no mittens/jacket/cap.
Ugh Leigh, that sounds awful, I hope things improve soon.

My youngest niece was able to come home on Friday and no one told me. :P Shows how in the loop I am. I hope those with upcoming hospital trips can come home in as good shape as she did.
10 cm more snow last night and guess who had to shovel the driveway this morn? Hubby's out with cold (you know men, when they are sick, they are soooo sick.)
My phone keeps bleeping to give me a weather alert, we're to expect up to 10cm (4") of snow after midday today. Guess who's wearing the ski gear to work today ;)
Only my mom and sister know...I may still never tell anyone else in the family, don't know. I didn't want them to worry unnecessarily. Anyway...so way back in March they did a CAT scan and an MRI and found spots on my liver. Said it was probably natural growths that are pretty common. September I did a followup MRI since it had been 6 months. They grew. Dr said things like pre-cancerous and said he wanted me to get a PET scan. Insurance wouldn't approve that. So he had to refer me to an oncologist so she could order a biopsy to find out of the things were malignant or not. Had the biopsy and then went to dr. Thank God she says they're benign adenomas. I still have to go back in another 6 months for another scan though because if they keep growing they could disrupt my liver function which could mean surgery in the future. Still....the benign word put to rest so many fears. Now I am trying to focus on learning the new dept I transferred into at work. During training, my schedule has changed which means a pay cut which is causing a financial strain. And the schedule won't change at least for a little over another month. Which means at least two more paychecks with the lower amount. I just..... I will say though, due to finances I've cut myself back to only two meals a day at most which means I am still losing all the weight I gained a year ago. I need about 30 more lbs to go to get to where I was before I moved.
Aww, poor Chelle. One of my friends have something similar, her liver can't handle alcohol. She has to be very careful when drinking.

Been a month without the computer (which was blown up in a thunderstorm), get a new one only to fall seriously ill with the flu. Get back on my feet only to find out that the client who I've been photographing her baby for, her husband is close to death with cancer. Just been going like a mad woman for the past three days photoshopping all their photos of their little girl, far more than I would do (the usual is 10-20 pics...this has been over 100) just so he has the photos to look at before he passes away. Man...tell you all what, be kind to one another, you just never know when your time is up. :'( I only photographed them a month and a half ago and he was fine then and thought he was going to be okay. I know I promised a few co-posts to a couple of ladies, but because of all this I've had to wait, I'm sorry. *hugs*

Wow, it's been a tough time for so many of you!! *hugs* I had no idea. I really hope you're all doing ok. This blanket fort idea was DAMN timely.
I've returned to work and am feeling much much better. Thankfully, I can work remotely and have all the tools for my job at home. So when I have to take a little nap (and a swig from that cocktail Leigh left on my bedside) I can do just that.

Every person in the United States of America does not share your sentiment Leigh. But that is one of the things that makes the USA a great country.
Yesterday I was proud to be an American and watch as people with vastly opposing viewpoints joined together to support the office of the President. While not the choice of many, my hope is that he carries out the duties of the office faithfully; to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
But before you apologize to the world and try to incite impeachment, perhaps you need to give him a chance to actually do or not do something. At this point he's been President less than 48 hours. I think it's probably a bit premature to charge the President of the United States with treason or any other infraction.
Both Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were 'in fact' impeached, however this did not remove them from office. While Richard Nixon was almost impeached he was not because he instead resigned. So rather than hope he is a criminal, I hope he does better than the Nay Sayers predict.
I don't know about you but personally I don't think shooting the pilot of the plane I'm riding in is a good course of action.
So, he is the President, so I will wait and pray, and see what he can do. History will be a much better judge than I can be at this moment in time. And just for the record... I didn't vote for him either.

Yes, I get that the USA elected and last week inaugurated a divisive figure. Yes I get that people are worried for the future. But hey, nobody has a perfect government, and there are always things people will love/hate about it (Brexit anyone?)

Speaking of rl woes...hubby forget his (work)laptop to home this morning, and I had to rush too early to work to deliver it to him (he fetched it from me). It's much shorter drive from his workplace to my workplace than to our home. *Yawn*
I had to put Kravitz, my cat, to sleep yesterday. He was seventeen.
It hurts. It hurts a lot. I had fair warning, but it still hurts. Everything feels so weird without him in my life, and it's only been a day and a half or thereabouts. I had him for fifteen consecutive and non-consecutive years. He called me "Mom." He was mine and I was his.
So I'm sorry to say this, especially after I've been such a horrible brat sometimes, but I need a few days. I'm gonna try to get back on track really soon, yet for now, I need to let my brain fall apart and allow it to hurt.
