Title: Meet the New Me, Same as the Old Me
Post by: Devin on August 15, 2016, 06:37:34 PM
I finally couldn't stand to see my old name here and on the site anymore, so I asked Suzee to change it. :)

Hi, I'm Devin, formerly known as Becki. I'm transgender. I use male pronouns (he/him).

I've always known I was different but it didn't truly click for me until a few years ago. I'd heard of trans people but what the media showed were suicidal people that woke up miserable every day in their old lives. I was ok, so I figured I couldn't be that. But then I met a friend-of-a-friend who was just transitioning and she was so glowingly happy. And not long after a trans man in my company did a presentation about his life. He wasn't super macho bodybuilder type. He was just a nerdy guy. I realized *I* could have a life like that. I didn't have to just deal with life as a "woman".

About three years ago I started transitioning. Family, friends and coworkers all know. You Triad folk are pretty much the last to know (*cough* sorry).

It's weird because for me, this is all normal now but you guys are just hearing about it. And seeing a new name. I'm the same person but now you know a lot more about me. :)

Hi Devin. Now I have to get used to the new name. Gender doesn't change who you are.  No wonder you always write so wonderful and fleshed out male characters. Let's face it, N'vanik is everybody's favourite.

What you call yourself, whatever pronouns you use don't matter, it's the inside that counts.  Glad you are  the you that you want to be.

I apologize already if I slip and use Becki (or she/her) old habits die hard and my fingers get ahead of my brain, haha!
