Question:
What should we do
Option 1: Just create new lists and we'll start over
votes: 5
Option 2: Pay them the $150 and get a full restore so we have our archive.
votes: 4
The Triad Mailing lists are gone. I don't know what happened and Godaddy can't explain it either. There were here earlier today but now they're missing.
We can have the website fully restored for $150. But that will roll us/forum/website all back to their last full backup.
OR
I can recreate the mailing lists, which means there will be NO archive and you will all have to sign up again.
Please indicate which you preferr and let me know if you are able to contribute to the $150 price tag for the restore.
Thanks
Angry Webbie.
EDIT:New Mailing Lists have been created at google groups. Please go there to sign up for one or both of them:

We're all boned either way, and as much as I'd like to contribute, it would have to be with a money order via snail mail. So I'd like the option that causes the webbies the least amount of stress. If that's remaking the mailing list and building another archive, let's go with that.
WHAAAAAT. >.< That's ridiculous that the archives are GONE because GoDaddy is having issues, and they're charging us $$$ to bring them back!! Freakin' highway robbery.
I'm happy to contribute some cash. Wish it was in CAD rather than USD though! :P
What? :angryfire: that's just blackmailing! Did they do that on purpose??? ''
wtf? Not what I wanted to wake up to
Ugh...we moved away from GoDaddy a while back and this makes me so glad we did. I, honestly, think it would be better to get a host that has better customer service and is going to take responsibility for their mistakes.
I'd be glad to make some calls and see if I can get something done about this, but I don't know if they'll talk to me since I don't have access to the site and am not on the account.
I'm in favour of getting the archives back and I'll contribute a little.
And then she asks ... Without the archives have we lost posts? Will there be gaps in the posts listed on the website, or is all that side still sitting safely in the inboxes of people concerned?
We should not have lost anything earlier than January, as the current area admins do it at least once a month. I went through my email today and have posted every DFW and DCW territory post I have between Jan 1 and today. I'd like to encourage people to check through the site archive, see what they see, and tell me if they see something missing.
New lists are fine with me AS LONG AS what has been stored on the website doesn't go bye-bye. However if rebuilding/resetting the lists sets back the archives on the website then.... Nooooo :(
So I feel torn--- we pay the $$$ and yet we lose info on the site? Or we get new lists and lose the archives?
GoDaddy should fix this FO' FREE since it is THEIR error. ._. Ugh, GoDaddy. My least favorite provider. ICDSoft is much more reliable.
If we decide to pay the money I can contribute some.
GoDaddy sucks.
Sooo with some help from Amanda, I think we have their attention now and have several people looking into how this could have happened.
Things don't just disappear.
We'll see if it makes any difference or if we still have to kick and scream to get them to fix this.
I'm more for cutting our loses and going with a more reliable provider. If it's happened now, it will happen in the future. :/
Fingers crossed for having this sorted soon and as painlessly as possible.
Yikes! I hope this gets sorted out.
Uh, the CBox has vanished too now. Oh dear.
The issues with the extensions in the forums have been fixed. Some of them had been disabled somehow. I've enabled them and the sidebar is now visible again.

We've spoken to GoDaddy and they have agreed to try a restore at some point today. So you may see the websites blink. If this works and our lists come back great. If after my close of business on the West Coast of the US, we still don't have lists. I will set about creating new ones. I will send out invitations to all current members and lurkers so you can rejoin them.
Then we can once again get to reading your great stories.
I do ask that when we get the lists back up you please resend anything from the last week.
Thanks!!
So.....as far as RBW/SWE/SSH/SSH-SH those are my areas. I had actually just caught up timelining all the current posts so they are all on site minus the ones that were late which we don't timeline. So yeah everything should be there as long as they weren't late. Generally speaking I keep everything in my inbox from my area and don't remove them till they're timelined. But anyway, we'll figger it out. Now is the time to get all those posts ready for when we get lists again.
So I have good news and bad news.
Bad News:
Godaddy (once we finally got through to someone who really knew what was going on) has finally admitted they have deactivated Mailman across the board. This is the software that managed our mailing lists. So even if they were to 'restore' the site there is no guarantee we'd would get Mailman back. So, our lists/archives are gone. To say that I'm pissed doesn't even begin to cover it.
They say they notified me but I went through the email and there was nothing sent regarding turning off the lists.
So the council has to make some decisions. We can move the site again to another host. We can try to find another software that does the same thing. Or we can find another way to do our posting. All of that must be discussed and put before the members.
Good News:
With the help of Amanda and Chelle, we've tested using Google Groups which seems to work almost like Mailman did. Of course this is only a temporary solution but you can go and join the group. It's private so the contents will only be seen by members. This can either be a temporary or permanent solution once we figure out what we're going to do.
Instructions:
Subscribe: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/triadweyrs
Set up your preferences. You will be able to EMAIL your posts to the group and it will be sent out to the membership almost like mailman did. (very close.)
Send your posts to: triadweyrs@googlegroups.com
I'm still working the problem and and trying to come up with a solution that won't cost the council or the club a bunch of $$.
Request:
If you could please send any posts you have sent to the old list in the last week to the new list? It would help us recover anything we might have missed for time lining purposes.
Thanks
Can I borrow you some swear words? You may not undertand a thing but it's the meaning that counts. And Finnish language is very well suited for cursing. All those sibilant S's and growly R's.
I'm so sorry, that must be devastating after all the work you put into this.
To borrow a phrase from Japan, GoDaddy can hit its head on a corner of tofu and die. If I ever have a website, it won't be with them.
So do we send new posts to the Google list or wait for now?
You can go ahead and send to the google group. I'll be sending invites out to all members who haven't yet signed up later today. I'm also still looking for another more permanent solution, such as another list service. We're going to do this as quickly as possible so thanks for your patience.
Gah, stupid companies with no regard for their customers.. -_- Thank you for all the work you are putting in Suzee!!!
Yes, thank you! I finally got updated on what's going on. That's what being overworked does to me :P
Just a reminder for those of you who may not yet know we've created google groups for the two main mailing lists. I've linked them in the original post but you can join both the regular mailing list AND the Adult list there.

Just a reminder to those of you who care. We do still have an adult mailing list if you want to sign up. I know not all of you wish to and that is understood. I just had a comment from a member that didn't realize it was still available. The link is in the original post above, if you wish to join.
